Great position, comfortable stay.

Posted Jan 23, 2015
Pros: The position and the views.
Cons: Some of the hotel is a little tired but still very clean and comfortable.
Location: Views of the port and a short walk along the sea front to the town
We booked this hotel for a four night stay. It was in a great location close to the port, within walking distance to the town, ideal when you've only got a couple of days to explore. The breakfast buffet was really good. we hired a car for a couple of days, the hotel only has about 5 free spaces outside so if your lucky you can park here if not you need to park in the casino carpark which is only 50 metres away but you will need to pay. I think the maximum charge for 24 hours is €6.40. We would stay here again but if you are looking for ultra modern it's not for you. For us the position and views are fab!

Travelling on my own

Pros: Location only a short walk into town. Lovely views from hotel room. Good food.
Cons: Facilities for children could be better
Hotel staff were lovely, looked after me very well during a difficult time. Nothing was too much trouble.

Excellent position.

Posted Jan 21, 2015
Pros: Service and decoration.
Cons: Reconfiguration of rooms to give sitting space for the number of people in the room.
Location: Above the harbour . Sights and sounds of Funchal. Great place to view fireworks at new year.
The Casino Park hotel is conveniently situated overlooking the harbour of Funchal where you can watch the cruise ships entering and leaving in all their noisy glory. The historic city is within easy walking distance where there is much history with unique buildings to enjoy. The hotel is perhaps not 5* but a good 4* with excellent indoor and outdoor pools. The decoration is clean and modern with the emphasis on its architectural heritage. All the staff were excellent very proficient and welcoming. Our only downside was that the room was on the small side with only one chair which meant that one person had to sit on the bed or balcony! Overall we enjoyed our stay and can recommend the omelettes made to order!

Brauchbares Hotel in Zentrumsnähe

Posted Jan 20, 2015

Excellent hotel with attentive staff who really lo

Posted Jan 19, 2015
Pros: Staff and their helpfulness
Cons: Would benefit from some refurbishment as the décor is a little old fashioned
Location: Convenient for Funchal centre, restaurants and coffee bar
Hotel is nicely positioned for restaurants/coffee bar within 2 minutes walk. The staff are very helpful and could not have made us more welcome.

Bel hôtel mais vieillissant. Pas un vrai 5 étoiles

Posted Jan 12, 2015

Great hotel but room disappointing

Posted Jan 8, 2015
Pros: The position, the views and the staff. The restaurant was very good
Cons: As remarked before the room we had
Location: Lots of restaurants to go to ,on the bus route to explore the island and within walking distance of the town.
The hotel and staff were great also the position.unfortunately the room was a disappointment there was only one plug that you could making life much better. Also no dressing table these are only small things but for a five star hotel minor things. Also the chairs on the balcony need to be replaced when you sat on them you got brown marks on clothes. If these were addressed it would make the room 100 Percent better

Large, stylish, landmark hotel in a good location

Posted Dec 15, 2014
Pros: We liked the style of the hotel and the location.
Cons: Some aspects of the rooms are quite dated, for example the TVs and the minibar but these are minor issues.
Location: The hotel is a 10 min walk from the town and a 20 min walk from the old city.
The hotel had a very 60's - 70's feel, but done very nicely. Rooms have good sized balconies and sliding doors and good bathrooms. We had a huge (and comfortable) bed. The hotel bar and restaurant were pretty decent. Champagne and a live pianist at breakfast give the feeling of luxury. The dinner menu focused on buffet style - I guess for the full board guests - but offers reasonable value. The facilities were not always the newest, but are well maintained. We used the indoor pool several time, and the outdoor infinity pool was very striking (if a bit cold to use in December) and had amazing views of the docking cruise liners. As we visited out of season (Dec) the hotel was quiet and we didn't have to wait for anything.
