super Hotel nahe Zentrum, sauberer schöner Garten

Location: Das Hotel befindet sich nahe dem Zentrum in Funchal. In der Nähe ist ein wunderschöner Park mit schönen Blumen und vielen Eidechsen.
Das Hotel ist sehr gut gelegen, und vom Service her hervorragend. Das Frühstücks-Buffet war einmalig, vielfältig, sehr zu empfehlen. Für jeden Geschmack was dabei. Die Zimmer waren sehr sauber mit einem schönen Ausblick auf´s Meer. Das Hotel-Team war immer hilfsbereit, und sehr freundlich.

Pros: ligging - prima ontbijtbuffet - zwembad - vriendelijk personeel
Hotel is prachtig gelegen - heerlijk zwembad - relaxte sfeer (beetje tegen oubollig aan- maar wel leuk)- ideaal om weekje bij te tanken.

This can't be a 5 star. Hotel is in urgent need of renovation. Peeling paintwork and worn carpets. Awful room so we changed it. We both went down with noro virus symptoms. Largely ignored by the hotel apart from the nurse telling us to stay in our rooms. One bowl of soup in 3 days.

Shabby, aging hotel & poor staff

Pros: Location and sea view from the pool and terrace area.
Cons: Everything. In particular, general customer service and attention to detail. Breakfast was an uncomfortable experience to say the least.
Location: Good location near central Funchal.
This hotel is not 5 star quality. It is dated, tired, and lacking in customer service. Our room was not ready upon arrival, and we were not originally offered the correct room type for our reservation. We prepaid for a sea view, and instead we were initially offered a view of the hotel grounds. The room itself was dirty, and again felt shabby and tired. The beds had mattresses only slightly preferable to concrete, and sleeping was anything but comfortable. The walls were paper thin, which meant we could hear everything in adjacent rooms. Not a pleasant experience later in the evening. Maid service was cursory at best. We did not receive clean glasses throughout our stay, and the bedding was never changed during the entire week. Also, our room was never vacuumed, and the toilet leaked. Breakfast was large with a decent variety of food. However, the service was dreadful. The outside tables were never ready at the start of breakfast, and the waiters felt it was acceptable to shout at you if you tried to sit outside. Also, I was never offered either coffee or tea. Again, this was simply unacceptable and very poor customer service. It also made breakfast a less than enjoyable experience. Moving chairs, tables, and laying out cutlery etc whilst guests try to eat their breakfast is neither professional nor good service. To end this awful experience, upon checkout we were asked to pay for the whole stay even though we had prepaid via Expedia. We shall stay at Reid's next time!

If you want to feel like you're in a retirement centre, then this hotel is for you. Terrible food, miserable staff and lazy cleaners even when tipped.

Large but very welcoming.

Pros: The breakfast has a wonderful choice.
Cons: The price of the evening meal is a little expensive, but it is a buffet menu - perhaps a cheaper option could be made available.
Location: It is at the top of an incline when you are walking back to the hotel from town, but there is a park halfway up where you can stop and have a rest!!
I travelled to this hotel alone. This was the first time travelling alone since becoming a widow. I felt safe at all times, staff were friendly and welcoming and were very attentive. There was just one thing I did not like. The bar staff (at the pool bar especially) did not return with your change after paying for your drinks. It was as if they thought you would forget and they would get a bigger tip.

Functal trip.

The staff were all friendly and committed to quality customer service. I arrived early in the morning and they expedited my check-in process so I would not have to wait very long. The view of the ocean from the pool is breathtaking! Spa facilities were very clean and refreshing. I not typically a fan of "casino hotels" but this hotel was free from the casino atmospher.
