Typical modern hotel with all the usual facilitiesPosted Mar 5, 2014
Cons: The food was ok but expensive for what it was. There was no hospitality tray in the room and nothing in the mini bar! And then no room service.
Location: In a line of modern hotels in the hotel area of town. possible to walk into town with the right shoes..Several retaurants in easy reach..
Exactly as expected - all the usual things - spa, nice poools etc

Nice hotelPosted Feb 24, 2014
Pros: Good facilities, well maintained rooms, easy access to promenade
Cons: Price of meals and bars to encourage more guests to spend longer in hotel.
Location: Recommend hiring car during stay provided confident driver as roads can be steep and narrow in places but a beautiful island worth exploring.
About half hour walk to old town or 10 euro taxi ride but good selection of restaurants nearby. Helpful and friendly staff and rooms well maintained. Only ate breakfast at hotel which was good buffet selection. Big promotion on meal deals for lunch or dinner but still overpriced compared to other restaurants. Happy hour brought drinks down to local prices when 50% was deducted. Car parking available on site for 4.5 euros per night. Outdoor pool plus heated indoor pool and spa pool. A good base for a week in the sun.

Pros: Access to promenade. Excellent range of fresh fruit at beakfast.
Cons: Our room 1613 was in need of refurbishment with marks on furniture and stains on wallpaper. This was NOT a problem with cleaning but maintenance.
Great staff and wonderful setting. Front desk exceptionally helpful.

Sleek modern hotelPosted Jan 25, 2014
Pros: It had all the facilities l wanted for my holiday.
Cons: Could have tea/coffee making facilities in the rooms.
Location: Walk into Funchal or catch the local buses from outside the hotel also the hop on/off buses stopped there too. There are plenty of restaurants around
It is a very good hotel staff all very helpful and friendly. The poolside was spotless, the gardens and the whole hotel kept extremely well kept.

Perfect location and very good facilities!!Posted Dec 26, 2013
The hotel is in a very good location!! It is around 7-8 min to the old town by bus (35 min walking) and the bus stop is right in front of the hotel.. There are good cafés and bars near the hotel too.. I was very impressed by the hospitality of the hotel staff.. The only minor thing that I didn't like was that the hotel didn't have a queen bed in any room.. All rooms had 2 full bed which were combined to make it a queen bed.. But it's definitely not the deal breaker.. I would surely stay here again when I visit Madeira in future!!

Idyllic location. Friendly and helpful staff. Room a little tired. Breakfast uninspiring. We were approached regarding a 'time-share', but wasn't pushy, so not a problem, and we had a free drink!. We went to the 'Flavours of Madeira' evening, expecting some information about local food, how it is cooked etc. Maybe even dancing or singing...alas it was a buffet with a short description of the food, disappointing...and it was €28 each, not cheap. Apart from the odd 'niggle' we thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Madeira and would recommend both the country and hotel to anyone.

Very comfortable.Staff is very friendly.Rooms are clean and comfortable.Wifi in rooms is slow with poor connectivity. Most hotels I have visited till now do have facility of a kettle and tea coffee in room which was lacking.Overall a good place to stay.Lovely pool and spa.

A wonderful hotelPosted Nov 12, 2013
Pros: Setting so close to the promenade. The indoor/outdoor pools.
Cons: Everything was good.
Location: Do go for walks along the promenade. You will get some beautiful photo opportunities. The Lido area is also great.
We have stayed at various Pestana hotels in Madeira and we have never been disappointed. This hotel was very good indeed with great staff, excellent facilities and a good ambiance. We would not hesitate to recommend this hotel as it provides great service to its guests. The setting is wonderful with direct access from the pool area down to the beautiful promenade which then takes you in either direction along the coast. Plenty of restaurants around and only a 40 minute walk to centre of Funchal if you enjoy walking to burn off the calories from the generous breakfasts offered.
