Wonderful, relaxing Christmas holiday.Posted Dec 29, 2014
Pros: Everything.It is superb.
Cons: It was perfect for us.
Location: Superb location.A nice walk or short bus ride from outside the hotel to the centre of Funchal.
We have just returned from a really lovely stay at the Pestana Village Aparthotel. We booked under a bed and breakfast basis and the buffet breakfast was so good that we decided to eat in the hotel each evening. There was a choice of restaurants, all equally good and the service was superb. The facilities at the hotel were excellent, the gardens superb but the best bit of all were the wonderful staff, who could not have been more helpful. From the moment we arrived we were welcomed by Eduardo and Dino, who told us lots of useful information about the hotel and the area throughout our stay. The catering, bar and housekeeping staff all took great pride in their duties and enthusiastically provided everything we required. The building and gardens are superbly maintained and a real credit to all staff concerned. We will return soon and recommend the hotel to everyone considering a trip to beautiful Madeira.

Comfortable and well placedPosted Dec 1, 2014
Pros: As it was combined with the Pestana Miramar hotel you had the benefit of the shared facilities and the options that gave you.
Cons: I had expected our "junior suite" to be more like 2 rooms but in reality it was a slightly bigger room. We had our little girl sleeping with us.
Location: Sub tropical and full of flowers.
Mid November and so perhaps was unrealistic in expecting good weather and we had a few days of rain.. but when the sun came out you realised what a beautiful, civilised, well maintained, comfortable city Funchal is. It is not Venice or Paris but neither is it Los Cristianos. This is not a teenager's resort. Pre book your taxi's to and from the airport via your hotel .. use the local buses .. try the cable car ... and the sled.

Reasonable price, clean with good breakfast includePosted Nov 26, 2014
Booked as a last minute holiday and we were impressed with the hotel which is set amongst lovely gardens. The staff were helpful and pleasant. The studio was a little on the small side without the expected microwave. Whilst there were two hotplate rings there were no large plates or bowls making it very difficult to cook a meal.

Heavenly 'Home from Home'Posted Nov 16, 2014
Cons: Our studio apartment looked a little 'tired' - redecoration would make it look more inviting. Staff a little too reserved with guests.
Location: About 20 minutes walk to central Funchal, but regular service buses and plenty of taxis available. Lovely setting in gardens which hid main road noise
Excellent Hotel - lovely design (not a tower block). Peaceful but convenient location. Buffet breakfast great choice & high quality. Lovely pool area - a great place to relax.

Nice hotelPosted Nov 14, 2014
My wife and I had a week here in November. We both enjoyed it. The staff are so friendly and helpful. My wife's birthday while we there, the hotel left a complimentary bottle champagne in our room. GREAT PLACE TO STAY. Couldn't fault it 10/10

Great place, great pricePosted Oct 16, 2014
This hotel is in a great location, has good staff, very good facilities and better than expected for the money paid. We arrived before check in opened and they welcome you with a drink and tried to sort out the room, when they couldnt they offered us a larger alternative. Very friendly and close to town. Book it.

Lovely hotel set in lush gardens close to Funchal.Posted Oct 3, 2014
Pros: Where it is situated - near enough to walk into the centre of Funchal. It's fabulous gardens, the rooms, the food, but mostly the staff.
Our 7th visit to the beautiful Miramar /Village Hotel and each time it gets better. The setting in lush gardens sets the scene for a really relaxing time. Our room was great with spectacular sea views (we were lucky enough to see a whale blow, one afternoon) This time we ate in all four restaurants [Luigi's- Italian, A Vila- Buffet, Adego- Rustic Madeiran and the Miramar- Gourmet] as the 99 euro offer was excellent value. Breakfast was also an excellent meal with great variety to suit all tastes. The greatest asset the hotel has is it's wonderful staff. They are friendly, helpful, welcoming and all seem to have a great sense of humour. They are the main reason we continue to visit this amazing island in the sun. On this visit we went out twice on the Bonita, a lovely old wooden boat. First trip was a day long to the Deserta Islands. We saw Pilot whales, a Bryde's whale and bottle nosed dolphins. It was such a great experience we booked a second trip for half a day and again were not disappointed. We saw a Fin whale, another Bryde's whale and masses of spotted dolphins as they swam alongside the boat. The crew were very enthusiastic, helpful. and very friendly. We had a nice hot meal cooked on board both times. Will plan our next visit as soon as possible.
