I got what i asked for,a nice quite room.Posted Mar 10, 2014
My stay was B&B, as being alone i enjoy eating out.The in house bars and restaurants offered a wide variety of food and drink but seemed to be more fitting for an occasion than your every day meal which was reflected in the prices. Breakfast was all anyone could wish for with variety being the name of the game. The staff are some of the best,if not the best i have experienced in all my travels and as i am now 72 its a lot. The bonus i feel i should add, the bus stop is at the front door and a nice Spar shop next door for if you are like me you can pick up a night cap.

good hotel set in beautiful gardensPosted Feb 15, 2014
Pros: Each room had a balcony, we had a view of the mountains. The staff were very pleasant and helpful. Breakfast was good and plentiful.
Cons: There were ants in our room. We also saw some in the breakfast room. It was not a major problem and housekeeping did spray the affected areas.
Location: Good location. Bus stop outside the hotel although timetable not always easy to understand. Lots to see in Funchal, cathedral, quintas, Monte, trips..
We had a very pleasant stay in this large resort hotel. Although this would not normally be our first choice of hotel we very much enjoyed the tasteful layout of the different buildings within the very pretty garden. As it was the low season the hotel was not full but the large breakfast room can be quite busy as it also serves the Hotel Miramar. Walking down to the centre of Funchal is easy (approximately 15-20 mn), walking back up the hill is a good exercise (if a bit more of a challenge) after sampling the food and Madeira wine in the numerous restaurants.

Exceptionally well designed hotel complexPosted Feb 13, 2014
Pros: The gardens are delightful, luxuriant, colourful & tended by very professional gardeners,
Cons: A choice of rooms on check-in would have been appreciated, away from the noise of elevators and the evening entertainment, which was loud & boring.
Location: Shops, eateries & tour operators close by, view of harbour & mountains. For exercise try walking to Funchal centre for good coffee, music & shopping
The architect has designed the group of hotels to take advantage of the landscape around the original Miramar hotel, creating a comprehensive set of shared facilities. The staff are highly efficient and helpful and the catering is excellent. The comfort level & hygiene are also first rate, even for the budget rooms.

Welcoming, warm and a great place to wind down.Posted Nov 30, 2013
Pros: The relaxing atmosphere, the friendly staff and the professional way they all worked together as a team. We were treated with respect on our holiday.
Cons: Having internet facilities in the guest rooms. I would have liked to Skype with family without having to get dressed and sit in a public area.
Location: 5 mins away: Bus stops to all over, Spar, bakery, place to book trips and a couple of other shops. 20/25 mins away: Centre of town, marina etc
My daughter and I loved the hotel, it is a great place to stay. Our first impressions were lovely. The reception area is spacious and leads to a large atrium with a fountain. We were made to feel welcome and offered a porter to take our bags to the room. The ground floor room was fantastic. It and the bathroom were spotlessly clean, we had a great sized patio with a little garden and two king sized beds. The kitchenette had a fridge with a small freezer section, there were two electric ring burners and basic crockery etc. We did hear one person complain there was not enough kitchen equipment, but to be honest it is not a place to cook a three course meal. We had dinner one night using 1 pan! There was patio furniture, two comfortable chairs inside, a long dressing table with mirror and stool, two full length double wardrobes with mirrored fronts and a decent size TV with enough channels to find something. Breakfast was fabulous. The choices at the buffet offered more than just a something for everyone: fresh fruit, cooked breakfast, cereals, many different breads, cold meat/cheese buffet, pancakes.....and more! Only let down for me was the coffee which came out of a machine. I had bought some with me so just made my own in the room. The evening meal was also a buffet and we had this a few nights when we had taken trips out. Again, lovely food, different daily choices and a vast selection. Entertainment in the atrium/bar was a different pianist, seemed ok. We would go back.

A Nice Hotel within easy reach of Funchal centre.Posted Oct 27, 2013
Pros: The pleasant quality staff and cleanliness of the hotel were just was required.
Cons: Some of the fixtures like carpets were in need of replacement.
Location: Close location to the centre of Funchal and its many attractions, cable car, gardens, bars, boat trips, shopping and many more.
Along with friends this was a short stay in avery adequate hotel with good facilities enhanced by excellent staff. Its proximity to the centre of Funchal, a ten minute walk, meant the many attractions, bars and restaurants of the city were well within reach. Some excellent restaurants were even closer. Only using the hotel for breakfast I cannot judge the hotels own restaurants except to say that there was more than one if you include the adjacent sister hotel the Miramar. The breakfast buffet was comprehensive offering both hot and cold in abundance. A great way to start the day. I would go back and certainly recommend to others.

Hotel tries to save at guests expensePosted Oct 7, 2013
The hotel had no A/C in hot Madeira, had a bad quality breakfast, left us waiting over 3 hours for our room on arrival, and showed below average service. Not worth it, considering the price.
