Really nice hotel set in lovely groundsPosted Aug 26, 2014
Pros: Great gardens and having access to 2 outdoor pools and an indoor pool was perfect when chilling out at the hotel
Cons: Rooms really could have done with air conditioning, ceiling fan just didn't cut it while we were there in August.
Location: About 20mins walk into Funchal makes it a great location, no need for a hire car. There are loads of nice restaurants withing a few mins walk
Myself and the family stopped in this hotel in August 2014 for 2-weeks. We really liked the hotel and its setting in tropical gardens and close proximity to Funchal. Loads to do on the island we'd really recommend a trip on the Santa Maria dolphin watching and a tour up to Monte on the cable car.

Beautiful hotel with wonderful gardenPosted Aug 23, 2014
We stayed there 8 nights in a superior room. The room was nice and clean. We could have better view from the balcon but it was ok. The stuff was always very kind and helpful with us. The breakfast was excellent with everything you wish. Around the swimming pool was enough sun beds and was never crowded. Actually we prefered to stay at the Miramar hotel swimming pool ( less kids and less people there ) The pool bar is great with friendly stuff. Great prices there! Don't miss the Happy Hours there!:) Excellent hotel! I wish we could have stayed longer!

Lovely hotel, helpful staff and beautiful groundsPosted Jul 29, 2014
Pros: We liked the grounds and the swimming pools. The room was also comfy and spacious. The view from our balcony was lovely.
Cons: We asked to be moved rooms because we were above the kitchen, and it was a little noisy but it wasn't possible which was a shame.
Location: Great location, although 20 min walk to town centre is down a massive hill on the way there and up hill on the way back! But buses were easy and cheap
We had a lovely time at the hotel - our first holiday with our 5 month daughter. The staff were all friendly and helpful, and particularly lovely with our daughter. The indoor pool was warm enough to swim in with her, and the outdoor pools were lovely for us to swim without her! Breakfast was delicious and with a wide choice of food. It is a steep drive, which wasn't ideal with a buggy, but we managed, and everywhere in the hotel is accessible by ramp or lift. Public bus stop was right outside, and buses were easy, frequent and cheap, and also buggy-friendly.

Nice hotel.Posted Jun 24, 2014
Pros: Good location for restaurants, city centre. Good choices at breakfast. Very clean. Staff very helpful.
Cons: Parking was sometimes difficulty due to limited space. A better choice of entertainments within hotel during evenings would be good.
Location: Within easy walking distance of Funchal city centre. Good choice of restaurants within walking distance.
We were very pleased with all hotel facilities, room, etc and breakfasts were great. All staff very helpful and polite at all times. Swimming pools lovely. However, we went during the football world cup, a big screen was put up in the main lounge area to show all the football games but there was little alternative entertainment provided within the week we were there. Though there were a few young families and younger couples, most of the guests staying seemed to be more mature, e.g. 65+

Pestana Village HotelPosted Jun 18, 2014
Pros: set in a tropical garden with a good size swimming pool. Our room was clean and very spacious with a good size balcony. Staff were very friendly.
Cons: Check-in was quite slow.
Location: Good location. A few minutes from Funchal and the main shopping/eating strip. Yet far enough for the resort to be very quiet (should you wish).
A perfect location, a few minutes from Funchal and the main food/shopping strip. The hotel is set in a tropical garden with a good size swimming pool. Our room was clean and very spacious with a good size balcony. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was included in my booking and included a cold or hot option. Free wifi is available in the hotel lobby. Check-in was quite slow.

Lovely hotel with very interesting gardenPosted Jun 13, 2014
Pros: Wonderful Gardens and Location. exceptionally helpful and friendly staff.
Cons: Ghost town after 10pm
Location: apart from a few street cafes there is little of interest in the June evenings. Area dominated by dramatic scenery.
Madeira is a lovely isle with extraordinary views. A fear of heights will transform this into a difficult time, beware. Everything is much higher or lower than whenever you are, so be prepared to walk up and down some steep roads. There are some areas that seem quite lively and popular in early evening but are dispersed and difficult to find. Generally i found the locals very friendly and helpful. English is spoken as a second language, most visitors appeared to speak German or French though.

Lovely hotel set in beautiful gardens.Posted Jun 12, 2014
Pros: Set in beautiful gardens. Good size room and balcony. Location excellent. All amenities very good.
Cons: Kitchen equipment, especially crockery, could be improved, Ours had no large plates!
Location: Easy walk into centre. Close to bus stop with regular buses. Small supermarket very close plus plenty other restaurants.
Very enjoyable stay. Staff very helpful and friendly. Easy access to town either walking or by regular buses. Amenities excellent and very much enjoyed the setting in lovely gardens. Although room overlooked patio and pool bar area any noise finished early and did not disturb us. Would certainly recommend to others.

I got what i asked for,a nice quite room.Posted Mar 10, 2014
My stay was B&B, as being alone i enjoy eating out.The in house bars and restaurants offered a wide variety of food and drink but seemed to be more fitting for an occasion than your every day meal which was reflected in the prices. Breakfast was all anyone could wish for with variety being the name of the game. The staff are some of the best,if not the best i have experienced in all my travels and as i am now 72 its a lot. The bonus i feel i should add, the bus stop is at the front door and a nice Spar shop next door for if you are like me you can pick up a night cap.
