“Best View of the Capitol and Lake”

This hotel is by far the best in Madison. Great customer service! Since they were slow while we were there, they gave us a chance to pick our bed and view of the room for the same rate. The parking is very handy especially the fact that parking is scarce in the area.

Area recommendations
Madison West - Hilldale has the best shopping and tasty restaurants such as Flemings, Great Dane and a special gem inside the mall called "Hongkong Wok".

“Would not go back”

Front desk staff not friendly. Mattress worn and to soft. Air-conditioning,fan kicked in and sounded like a helicopter landing throughout the evening when shut off room was to hot. Called for service no one came. The positive was the wait staff in the Olive restaraunt they were friendly and courteous. And no one mentioned the $13.00 a night parking fee

“Great location”

This hotel is located in the heart of downtown Madison, WI. A large convention center is easily accessible by an enclosed walkway. At the top of the convertion center you have a great view of Lake Monona. It is an easy walk from the hotel to the Capitol building. The area is very clean and safe with lots of people out walking at night frequenting the many restaurnats and coffee houses. The only problem we had at the hotel was parking. The hotel parking garage was full so we were instructed to use the convertion center parking. We were given incorrect directions at first which had us driving around several streets before we gave up and went back to the hotel. This time we got correct directions to the parking lot. However it was still confusing as to how to get into the hotel.

Area recommendations
The downtown area. There are many restaurants, shops and coffee houses within walking distance from the hotel. Every Saturday morning during the summer there is a farmer market that wraps completely around the capitol building, only two blocks from the hotel.
When to go
Summer time is about 10 to 15 degrees cooler than St. Louis.

“Over booked”

We didn't really get to stay there because they were overbooked. The night clerk was really nice, and he helped us find a room at another nearby hotel. He also said that we would process a refund request for us.

“pretty good”

For the price we paid (thank expedia) it was a good value. I'm used to travelling a little lower budget, so I was a little disappointed at how much everything cost. My friend and I stayed here during a trip to Madison--we're both in our twenties and I'm still in school so we're extremely low budget travellers. We scored a good deal and decided to spoil ourselves though. Keep in mind, if you stay here, you have to pay for everything, the two big ones being parking and breakfast. that said, the type of person who were staying at this hilton (rich business folks) probably don't really care if they have to pay for everything. If you're a poor kid like me, you might want to stay somewhere else, like maybe the hostel.

“Madison Hilton”

A very nice location, but for the price I expected a mini-fridge in the room. The hotel boasts that their view is a great reason to stay there, but from the fourth floor the view was not spectacular. The location to the capitol and downtown area, however, was phenomenal. Many different activities, restaurants, and attractions all within walking distance. Parking is steep ($13/day) although I suppose one can expect that with downtown parking in an urban area. If I went back I may try to book one of the less bourgeois chains in the same area.

Area recommendations
The only neighborhood we visited was the downtown and campus area. However, there are many stores, restaurants and attractions in this area that in the three times I've gone to Madison and only stayed in this area I still don't feel I've seen everything there is to offer.

“Not Impressed”

For a 4 star hotel you don't get much for your money. They charge $13 a night for parking, they charge for internet service unless you go down to the lobby, they charge......

“Madison Hot Spot”

We choose the Hilton Madison Monona Terrace Hotel for our Girls Weekend while attending the Mamma Mia Play at the Overture Center. It was all that we expected and more!! The staff were very friendly and helpful during check-in, during our stay and at check-out. The location was perfect, as the Overture Center is only 8 blocks away and was a comfortable 10 minute walk. We definately will stay there again on our next trip to Madison!

“Great Locaction in Madison, Even in Winter”

The first time I have had both two comfortable reading chairs and an ottoman -- most hotel rooms are focused on the TV. The main restaurant was closed on a Sunday night but the bar food was excellent and the waitress went to the restaurant and got an elegant large red wine glass when I complained the bar standard was pretty poor. Great location for the conference center, capitol and the university...top level hotel.
