Close and safe hotel near Times Square

Posted Mar 25, 2015
Cons: The bed wasn't as comfortable.
Location: Times Square, Javitts Convention Center, Macy's
I arrived late in the city by myself. I was starving but was afraid to walk too far alone. The front desk staff was so helpful in guiding me to the nearest, safe pizza place so I can get my NYC pizza fix ( Pizza Supreme on 31st was where I went). To my surprise, the hotel was actually very central so the street was very crowded, and well lit. The room was very clean. AC or heater unit was a little loud but it didn't bother me much.

Fine hotel but hardly feels like a 4.5 star hotel

Posted Mar 23, 2015
Pros: The inside of the room.
Cons: There are soap dispensers in a 4.5 star hotel, which is not classy.
Location: The location is good and just 6-8 blocks from Times Square, Port Authority, etc.
The room itself is nice and clean and worth the price in NYC, but the lobby feels more like a tired 2.5 to 3 star hotel. There were two other disturbing issues. First, there is an annoying time-share saleswoman in the lobby who is also an employee or affiliate of the hotel who tries to offer you free brunch and a $100+ free money for attending a time-share selling spiel in the usual slimy, fake-nice tone. I absolutely can't stand these types. Second, there was someone who happened to have a card key to the room after my check-in and opened the door without knocking and then left hastily. I complained about this to the hotel staff and asked them to change the card key as needed, and they said they would look into it, but nothing happened.

Close to many attractions and shopping

Quiet area, next to a police station and very large room compared to other hotels. Great price for what you get.

Super hotel

Fab hotel with great access to all that midtown has to offer, just far enough off Times Square for the walk to be pleasant but not to be overwhelmed by the tourist trade. With Penn station just a block away jumping on the subway is easy and New Jersey Transit and Long Island Railroad also run from there if you want to explore a little further. Staff were friendly and helpful. Basic room not very large but functional and spotless. The Tick Tock Diner under The Wyndham New Yorker on the NE corner of 34th and 8th was a perfect place to start or end the day. Be brave and if you walk up to Times Square use 9th Ave, it's not so crowded and there are some fantastic restaurants, bars and sandwich shops.

Super cadre, l'hôtel est proche de toutes les commodités, le personnel est au petit soin, et les chambres sont très belles. Le wifi est assez lent, et les chaînes TV sont très limitées... Je le recommande vivement !!!

One week in NY

Posted Mar 17, 2015
Great location 1 1/2 blocks from Penn Station and Madison Square Garden. Our room was huge by New York standards and the furnishings were modern and new. The hotel was very clean and the staff was friendly and helpful. I'd highly recommend.

Nice hotel but not happy

Posted Mar 16, 2015
Arrived to TRYP at 2:00 wanted to check in an hour early, however room wasn't ready, "ok", we checked out bags and headed out for a coffee arrived back at hotel at 3:00 our check in time and waited in the lobby until 4:00 after several ("sorrys" still not ready)!! It was an ok hotel as far as comfort, rooms could be a little neater, and staff a bit more accommodating but it's NYC so not complaining!!! Just don't expect a 5 star stay!
