Very convenient location

Pros: Very convenient location
Very convenient location. Can be tricky if you have a car. Beware that there are many flights of stairs with no lift.

Great location and access

Posted Jun 24, 2014
Pros: LOCATION.... LOCATION ... LOCATION
Cons: Room Service
Location: Everything is nearby, and walk-in distance... This city does not sleep until 3 AM...
This is a great hotel location right in the middle of the action, walking distance to the Palace, Plaza Mayor, Puerta del Sol, Metro, etc... Walk-in distance to grocery store and one block from the best breakfast place you could ask for... Remember to ask for "Huevos Rotos with chocolate churros".... MMMM... Room was very comfortable, clean and has a great AC system... For us a family of 5 was great Front desk was very helpful specially the girl from Italy...she help us find everything we needed...

Excellent price for a bedroom with wifi and tv. I stayed two nights with no need of private bathroom and saw almost of the nice places over there in Madrid.

Roomy, in the middle of Madrid but noisy at night

Posted Jun 9, 2014
Yup, you're only steps away from the center of Madrid close to restaurants and attractions but it gets noisy at night - people screaming (probably drunk), metal clanging (chairs?) and back up horns of trucks (garbage trucks?). Get the higher floors to minimize the noise but I did not see any elevators around so you have to carry your luggage up. Its roomy though with 2 bedrooms and a queen size futon in the living room. Has a fully stocked kitchen. So this apartment is trade off between location and noise.

Mixed feelings, but would stay again

Posted May 16, 2014
I stayed here for 10 nights. My stay was in two parts - 3 nights in a two bed apartment, then 7 nights in a one bed apt. I booked both stays at the same place, assuming they were in the same building, to avoid moving luggage around. However, on arrival, I was told that 3 nights were in a building on Calle Bordadores and 7 nights in a building on Calle Galdo, on opposite sides of Puerta del Sol - both excellent locations very close to Puerta del Sol metro, but really busy, and not a quiet area to stay in. The apartments in Calle Bordadores were very good - quiet, private, clean, well furnished and equipped, free wifi and the building had a lift. However, the one bed apt on Calle Galdo (also being sold as Sol Square Apartments), was disappointing. It was a bedroom with a tiny kitchen and dated bathroom. Quite dark and dingy, and very noisy both from the street and the neighbouring rooms as the walls are very thin. No lift and 47 stairs to reach the rooms. The rooms were clean and reasonably equipped, but I expected an 'apartment' to have a sitting area, and this didn't - just a bed to sit on for a week. After 4 nights of little sleep I complained. Angie was really helpful and moved me back to an apartment in Calle Bordadores, which was lovely, and I couldn’t fault it. I was told the Calle Galdo apts aren't being used by this company from June. I'd stay here again, as the location is excellent, but would make sure that I knew which apartment I was allocated before I arrived.

Rock 'n' Roll marathon

Posted May 1, 2014
Pros: Its central location.
Cons: The lighting and the drainage in the sink in the kitchen area.
Location: Lovely tapas in the nearby restaurant. We also went to see Real Madrid which was a wonderful experience.
We chose these apartments as they were close to the start of the marathon and sure enough it was a short walk to the start. We did not realise just how central they were to Sol plaza and we were very pleased with the location. It was a little noisy at night but earplugs fixed that. The apartments were clean and comfortable.

Ok for a hostel, but bathroom smelled like a sewag

Posted Mar 26, 2014
Pros: Location was awesome.
Cons: The bathroom's smell was horrendous. And the smell in the hallway was like someone had been smoking in there for years.
Location: Near Plaza del Sol, tons of different restaurants, and a short walk to the Mercado San Miguel (an awesome higher end food market).
The hostel was in the perfect location, close to the action (near restaurants and Plaza del Sol) and the metro. The room itself was fair/good. Pretty spacious for a hostel. The bathroom was fine too, but a day after we were there we noticed a smell coming from the bathroom. It smelled like raw sewage/port-a-potty. It was so horrendous that my boyfriend and I had to plan out the times when we were going to use it because it was so overpowering that I actually gagged. But the problem was, the office was only open during certain hours in the day and it was already after the time when we became aware of this.

Excellent tourist location but, beware!

Posted Mar 17, 2014
Pros: Central location for tourism and friendly staff
Cons: A lift installed!.
Location: Close to Plaza Mayor, Sol, Opera, Royal Palace. Eat late at El Botin near Plaza Mayor so as to enjoy La Tuna (student musicians from the university.)
We are in our sixties and had a heavy suitcase. We were put on the 5th floor and there is no lift. Staff helped us when we arrived but the 120 stairs took the edge off the visit.
