Quick stay near the airport.
Picked this hotel because it looked very nice and is within 15 minutes of the airport. It was very nice, There were only two issues we had. The first was that our rooms were very warm and we couldn’t get the temperature to go below a certain level. The second was that we couldn’t use our free breakfast, because it didn’t open until 8 am.

We loved this place, everything there was clean the front desk people were very nice and the breakfast was my favorite part. The guy serving in the restaurant was very helpful and nice. We’d love to comeback.

The room was smallish but OK. Only little issue was the grout around the bathtub/ shower was discolored brown and looked bad. The location is OK. About halfway between the airport and downtown Madrid, so not really convenient for either. The metro stop is about a 15 minute walk away. We didn't find any nearby restaurants open for dinner. Most of the neighborhood places are for lunch for the nearby office workers.

good hotel close to Ifema but not so good for public transport there. Not too expensive by taxi to congress area and good metro line into the centre of Madrid (stops at Opera in central area) at ciudad lineale (green line) about 15 minutes walk away. Room very comfy and well appointed but had a problem with the lock so had to change rooms on 3rd morning. Room identical so my only complaint in the room was the lack of drink making facilities (no kettle etc). Tried to order room service on Sunday night at 11.20pm and was told the kitchen was closed even for a cake and a cuppa! Disappointing. Other than that, breakfast was great - excellent choice, wonderful tasty fresh squuezed orange juice, good selection of fruit, cold meats/cheese etc, breads/pastries, toaster, hot breakfast and option to order fresh cooked eggs - fried, omelette etc. Coffee from machine but good coffee. Restaurant staff very obliging even if found it a bit strange to sit in the cafe part on Friday night on arrival as restaurant wasn't open! Food good - quickly prepared, waiter very friendly and professional. All in all, despite a couple of hitches about the room lock and room service, happy to recommend it.

Recent review
Fantastic service from the start. The staff at Reception were helpful, polite and friendly at all times. The room was very clean and tidy, this was also maintained everyday by the cleaning staff, they did an excellent job. The A/C worked fine and there was a variety of TV channels available. The buffet breakfast was on point too, nice selection of cereals, various sweet pastries, variety of fresh bread, cold meats and eggs. The staff at the buffet restaurant are always there to help and they too provided excellent service, including the chefs too! We used the metro to travel into Madrid Central everyday, the station was only like a 10 minute walk way, not bad at all. Overall, we had a fantastic experience staying at the hotel, thanks to all the staff who were ar hand at all times to help us out. I would definitely stay at this hotel again when i come back to Madrid.

Modern hotel
This hotel was a great value for what I paid. The location isn't the best, and it is a little far from any metro stops so it is a little far to access the public transportation (with the exception of the bus). There is a mini bar available in the room. I didn't have the best sleep, because the beds would constantly move (they were on wheels). The shower was oddly setup, so there was a bunch of water on the floor after I used it. Otherwise, a solid experience, even with my limited Spanish.

Bad decision for hotel in Madrid
The area is near a business district so if you are a leisure traveller it's not a wise decision to book around this area. In addition the receptionist does not speak good English. Hence it is very difficult for us to communicate with the hotel staff. You also have to be careful about the bathroom tiles as it gets veey slippery.

This hotel didnt want to activate the air conditioned to make my stay comfortable. The staff was not sensitive. It is supposed that this kind of hotel should work to make travelers' experience comfortable. I won't be back and won't recommend this facilities

The hotel was very nice! Clean and helpful staff. The only down side is there was standing sewage right outside in the street and it was horrible walking to the metro.

Good value in Madrid
Used as an airport stopover after arriving on a late plane into Madrid. Very good value and an excellent breakfast. So long as you don’t mind using the metro it would be a good choice for Madrid - not much in the local area though.

Good hotel
The hotel was clean, comfortable, and with easy access to the metro (about a 10 minute walk). My only complaint was that I had listed a specific request in my reservation which was not met by the initial room they assigned me. Their records noted my request and it was honored after I asked for it and after a long wait.

Great hotel
Nothing negative really, very friendly staff, great room, very comfortable bed, just very good overall. Even though we didn’t use it, we did take a look at the gym and it looked great, there was even a sauna and a changing room. The only slightly less positive thing we noticed was that at breakfast, the scrambled eggs didn’t seem to have a normal scrambled eggs flavour, still edible but just a slightly odd flavour. Long story short, great hotel and we would definitely come back.

Nice hotel but not an expectional experience.
The hotel itself is pretty nice. However, we did not feel we had a great experience overall. It was not very cold in Madrid (mid 50-60s), and the rooms were not equiped with AC, but there is a main one of the building. It was hot in the room and the main AC had been turned off because of the temperature outside. So we were advised to open the window... however the street was so loud, we had trouble sleeping. Other than that, the hotel is nice, clean, although not as close to Madrid downtown.

Good Madrid Hotel
We stayed 5 nights - 2 nights as part of a tour group. The hotel is a large modern hotel and the rooms were clean and reasonably sized. The staff at the hotel were helpful with directions and maps to the local train station. The station was around a 10 minute walk and had you into central Madrid in around 30 minutes. We had breakfast in the hotel on one day but felt it was over priced. The local coffee shop offered much better value around a 5 minute walk on the way to the station. We feel that this hotel is a good option for Madrid and would stay again.

Nice place but not very helpful staff
A great hotel as far as rooms and cleanliness. Our issue was with the staff. We asked about laundry service and found out it was waaaaay over our budget. We asked if there was a laundry mat near by. They said no...turns out there was one within walking distance. We needed help with booking a train and front desk reception was so unhelpful that we had to go to the station for help. Turns out the train station locked trains which Im sure we could have found out with 1 phone call from the front desk. If you dont need help then this is a great hotel.

Occidental Madrid Este
The hotel was lovely, modern, and the room was very clean, spacious and extremely comfortable. We booked this hotel to connect with a tour leaving from the same hotel but would not have stayed there otherwise as it is too far from the city and with many places in Spain the surrounding restaurants and bars do not really open until at least after 8pm at night. The transport to the city is reasonable and therefore I would recommend it as a lovely hotel if you did not want to spend a fortune on staying close to the city.

A night in Barceo
Arrived @ 1800 on a Saturday after a whole day tour. Asked about their restaurant and was informed it was closed because it was Saturday, and that the bar was open. Reception did not offer any information on restaurants that may be open nearby. They could have been more helpful.

Great hotel
Great hotel, everything was clean, tidy and of a high standard. Reception were a great help in terms of directions and things to do with getting in to town. About a 5-10 minute walk from a metro stop which takes you straight in to the centre so it's easy to get in and out of the centre without much hassle.

Just a 1 night stop while doing a repair at a local company. I chose this hotel on ts location, and my experience of a holiday on Teneriffe where I stayed at the Barceló at Santa Cruz. Friendly, competent staff. Good honest food and prices. I taxied in from the Airport, so have no view on the parking.

Quite a distance from tourist sights
Clean, comfortable room; attractive hotel. Twenty- or thirty- Euro taxi ride to Puerta del Sol or Plaza Mayor. Two Metro stops within a kilometer walk, just not a nice neighborhood to walk through. Also, the Metro stops running relatively early (around 21:30), so you will need a taxi to get back. Probably a great hotel if you have business in the area; otherwise, find something closer to the city.

Nice place, reasonable rates, excellent services.
From the check-in thru the check-out everything was as good as it could be. At the restaurant Raul makes sure that everybody is properly treated and served. His efforts make the restaurant go beyond good and enter the excellence level. I also used the conference room and got the same type of attention and services. My congratulations to all the team. In addition, less than a block away, there is a supermarket making the stay even more pleasant, because you can get some of the excellent products and fruits from Spain. All very reasonably priced.

Barcelo Torre Arias Short Review
Decent hotel. Quite clean. Very affordable. Good location. Front desk spoke english quite well. The rest of the staff did not speak english very well. The complementary internet was quite awful. Room service was also quite awful, and expensive.

Far away from the action.
This hotel is in a very weird industrial/commercial area of Madrid. The AC is non-existent and they FORGOT our wake up call (and there are no alarm clocks in the room) making us nearly late for our train. Never again will we stay here.

Good value, not quite close to downtown
Good value although the location is so-so. You have to walk 10-15 mins to the nearest metro station but that will take you right to downtown. The hotel is in great condition although the room sound proofing and the wireless signal could be better.

In the middle of nowhere
We arrived at the train station in Madrid after a lovely 2 1/2 hour train ride from Seville. We had booked the Barcelo Torre Arias because it was less than 5 miles from the airport since we had an early flight the next morning. One error was not checking to see if they had free airport transportation. They don't! When we pulled up to the hotel it looked like a medical institution, with no access to the entrance by taxi. The hotel, is cold and sterile and may be a great place for business (as the receptionist said) but not for weary travelers. Upon arriving at 9pm we asked if there were restaurants in the neighborhood but were told no. The restaurant and bar are in the hotel. The reataurant is a joke, one discombobulated waiter and really lousy food. We were given our room key, went to our room and were really depressed to see ugly twin beds with institutional white sheets, no extra pillows or blankets. We had booked a queen or king sized bed We were told there weren't any in non smoking rooms but we could have a king bed in a smoking room. When I checked it out, the room was thick with smoke...totally unbreathable. We kept our twin beds. I suppose if you are on a business trip and not into aesthetics it might not matter where you eat, sleep or drink. This was the only disappointment of our entire trip! Too bad it was our last impression of Spain!

Good overall- not central located- easy parking
I chose this hotel because it is away from downtown and has easy parking.It It is a 10 min walk to the metro taking you in a 20min ride to the city center. Nothing interesting in the neighborhood. It is a business oriented hotel. Rooms are new and nice. The room service is far from a 4 star hotel, but for the price/quality ratio is still very good. I would probably come back again to it, but would look for another hotel in the area with a shorter walk to the metro station. It is close to the airport too. Has free wifi, good breakfast for reasonable prices.
