Centrally Located

Posted Sep 3, 2014
Pros: The hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. The location is great and once we moved to the new room everything was perfect.
Cons: The pictures on the web site should be updated to give the passengers a clear picture of what is being reserved.
Location: There are discos, restaurants, train station and Museums very near by.
The hotel is centrally located. Close to many attractions including transportation and restaurants. The hotel is currently under renovation. It is like being in two different hotels. The renovated rooms are great while the original rooms are very AGED and not nice at all. It is worth paying the additional 15 Euros per day charge to upgrade to the new rooms. Everything is brand new, air conditioner, flat screen TV and overall very nice.

Perfect location if you are using the train system

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: It had 2 computers with internet and helpful employees 24 hrs. It was very centralized for my vacation plans.
Cons: offer bigger rooms, bigger tv sets and a lot more cable channels.
Location: Plenty of bars right across. Reina Sofia museum next door. The main train station across the street. Night life in 1, 7 story building across the st.
I stayed for a 8 days with the idea of traveling by train and visiting the local museums. They are located very close to the 3 most popular museums and "Parque de Retiro", and right across from the main train station. I also found out that the most popular and expensive night club is also right across from them on Paseo Atocha. It's walking distance from the center of Madrid; if you can walk 1mile, then you dont need to take the Metro. The rooms are small, but that is a standard in Europe. My room had it's own bathroom, but the bathtub was too narrow. There is no air conditioning, they have one fan. The look is not modern and the tv set is 13", so, if you are planning to spend much time in your room this may not be the hostal for you. If you need a bed to crash and a bathroom to freshen up, then this is perfect. As far as price, I do not have a good baseline since I bought a flight/hotel package, but I probably payed for being the summer season as opposed to room quality, about $50(33EU)/night; which should have been more like $15/night anywhere else in the countryside. Overall, I am happy with it and would go back, but maybe try to get a better deal.

Great location

If you want to walk 5 min to the Prado musuem , the botanical garden .. Pretty much all the sites are in a 10 min walking distance range. The location is amazing so many resturants and the main train station is across the street plus a very good affordable bars all around that area. One euro for a glass of wine and you can sit down outside and relax. The room is small!!! The bed isn't that comfortable. But I didn't go to Spain to stay in the room. It was a decent hotel and you have your own bed and bathroom.

Convenient location to Paseo Del Prado museums.

I enjoyed my stay at the hotel because it was clean and had the basic needs for a traveler. It also had Internet service for sending e-mails. In addition, there are numerous historic museums and sites very conveniently located near the hotel that I visited. Can't beat that!

Definitely an experience

Pros: The building didn't collapse on me.
Cons: Everything.
Location: It's very convenient to the metro and the train station.
Basement room, right over the metro line--the room shakes when a train goes by. The light switch for the room is in the hall. It's a challenge to persuade the door to the room to close and latch; the bathroom door doesn't shut at all. No windows, but plenty of ambient light leaking in from the hall--even without the trains it would have been almost impossible to sleep. I didn't.
