Great Location & Accomodating Staff

Posted Jul 4, 2012
Location: Excellent Location
The hotel staff was very helpful and pleasant. The location was excellent. The only issue was the hallways of the hotel were quite noisy in the morning. The walls were very thin. But overall, an enjoyable experience.

clean and convenient

the staff was friendly, everything was ok, my only recommendation would be that they have some provision of cold and hot water, so one shouldn't have to go out to a supermarket or bar to get some

Warm and Friendly Hostel

Posted Nov 1, 2011
Hostel Gallardo is more than one might expect from an average hostel. The rooms are cozy and clean with amenities like free wifi, hairdryer, safe, and bars of soap. There were also plenty of power outlets that allowed me to charge all my electronics at the same time. My room had a private bathroom and overlooked the church that is across the street. Thankfully the church bells rang just twice in my 3 days there and both time were in the middle of the day so there's no fear of being startled every 15 min. The service is VERY warm and friendly and it is located in a building with a few other hostels on Fuencarral which is very convenient to the Metro (Bilbao/Tribunal), good cheap eats, and the theaters. And for those who just can't leave home without it, there's a tasteful Starbucks a block away. One thing to be aware of is that there are several steps you must climb to get to the elevator so if you have heavy baggage, you may need help getting it up those stairs. One thing I would change would be the ability to pay for the room before arriving.

Hostal Gallardo in Madrid

Posted Jun 25, 2011 on Hotels.com
Hostal is one of the cleaner hostals that I have stayed in in Europe. It was nice to have an attached bathroom and the room was cozy. The Hostal was close to the metro so it was easy to get to from the airport by metro. Location is right by a metro so easy to get to all the big sights from there. The only down side to the hostal is that none of the staff speaks English. Luckily I speak some Spanish, but if you do not speak Spanish, communicating will be very difficult.

Not impressed

Posted Sep 21, 2010
The room was extremely small, and a double bed was very small too. The furniture is very old and bad looking. The smell in the room was unpleasant. AC was so loud that we couldn't sleep. The pictures of the rooms on internet looked completely different (much better). This hostel is too expensive for what you get. The only good thing was the hostel staff and the location of the hostel.

A little too basic

Posted Oct 13, 2009 on Hotels.com
Rooms were clean and staff friendly, but they had little or no amenities, room was really too small (we don't need much room, but this was even small by our standards), A/C didn't work, no breakfast offered, and room faced an inner courtyard that echoed, so it was unbelievably noisy. If all you need is a basic clean room to stay in, then this place is fine. Although they should consider charging less for the rooms since the hotel is nothing more than a flophouse.
