“Central location”
Hotel was in a central location of Madrid, so we were able to walk everywhere. The neighborhood itself isn't great, but a few blocks in any direction get you to nice shops and restaurants.
“Great for the price”
Stayed first night on this trip to Madrid because my usual hotel was not available until the next night. As described, this place is very clean. Common areas, hallways, and the room were spotless. Unlike some, I found the hotel desk personnel to be fine. Some spoke english better than others, but we found a way to communicate. Negatives: paid WiFi (didn't use because signal appeared low and did not want to pay and be unable to use), towels are air dried as in many hostals in Europe, so they are hard, and little noise proofing from either inside or outside noise (this is just the norm in such a hostal). If you have stayed in a hostal before, you will like this one, if you are unfamiliar with hostals, you may find it too basic.
“If you can get past the local "ladies of the night", it was a good place.”
The floor the hotel was situated on was well maintained. I was not keen on only having 1 room key- which had to be left at reception when you went out. The desk was staffed 24 hours/day- most of the staff were quite pleasant. If you come in past midnight - the security guard on the ground floor will verify you are a guest. Perhaps you might not wish to stay there with young children - the local hookers really do congregate in the entrance way- and seem to always be there. Excellent location! Close to Sol, on Gan Via. Metro stop right outside the hotel - affording easy access to airport without expense of taxi.
“Basic accomodations were met.”
The location is both good and because there is a metro stop just up the street and it is near one of the main streets in Madrid. I do not recommend staying with children here. The ladies were harmless but I still felt uncomfortable walking out in that area. One of the receptionists was on the phone for a few minutes and I was standing there waiting to ask him a question about the metro, he did not even pause to let me know to wait (I don't think he was on an important call) which I thought was quite rude. I eventually figured out the metro on my own, but the rooms were kept clean and tidy.
“Perfect location, must improve the maintenance”
The hotel location was perfect for a tourist. The personnel in the front desk was very helpful. The room was enough big for a short stay like 2-3days. Unfortunately the room was badly smelling because of the old toilet pipes I guess. They should immediately take an action about it.
“Is a hostel”
On arriving at Luis XV there was a note in the lift advising that we needed to check in at the hostel on level 6 which we thought was strange as we were staying at a hotel not hostel - the hostels name was St Jurez and we were told that it was the same place! The room they gave us was smelly with bits of hair on the floor and in the bed linen. The room was hot and stuffy as we were not given a remote for the airconditioner and no remote was given for the tv. Our balcony gave us the view of the prostitutes working below - they didnt bother us but provided plenty of entertainment throughout the night. On checking out the staff didnt want to assist me getting my luggage up the stairs and didnt open the side door - after much complaining he eventually helped me but i was told that because we were staying at a hostel i shouldnt expect the service a hotel will provide - I am no snob but had I have known they would have given us a room in the hostel I definitely would not have stayed at this 'hotel' I would not advise anyone to stay here unless you dont mind staying at a hostel.
