I enjoyed my stay at Hostal Marlasca. The property is beautiful inside, the room was clean and exactly as in the pictures, and as everyone says, the shower is amazing after a long day of exploring. It is a very close to Plaza del Sol, and the surrounding streets and alleys are alive all the time, especially on Friday nights and into Saturday morning. I highly recommend Hotel Marlasca, and would stay here again.

Great stay
Amazing location, really great beds and bathrooms, kind staff, no stress from cleaners kicking you out earlier that check out. Would go back!!! Only cons very noisy so bring your earplugs and 2€ coins for luggage lockers

Great location, nicely updated, rooms with multiple beds were nice for our family. Staff were nice. Overall I’d recommend, however pillows were not comfortable, and air conditioning took the edge off the heat but couldn’t quite completely cool the room.

Although very conveniently placed and good transportation options around it, there is a lot of partying going on until 5:30 - 6am every day that we stayed (however that is the case for several Madrid areas)

If you're looking for somewhere close to Sol, then the location is great. Unfortunately, everything else isnt - as per a lot of reviews, it's incredibly noisy from about 7pm to 5am, with people gathering outside the hotel all night (happened Fri, Sat and Sun I was there). The single room itself was adequate but the sheets were dirty and the shower still had hair from someone else in it. The hotel reception is on Floor 2 (not signposted) so you'll find many visitors wandering about lost (oh and there's no signs one each floor to say which rooms are where).The lift is tiny so be prepared if you're bringing a pushchair/bike to carry it up the narrow spiral staircase (no staff offered to help me). So in summary, ok if you're looking for a cheap place to put your head down but I'd suggest paying more and staying elsewhere.

Amazingly central location but inaccurate pictures
The location is incredible, being right in the centre of everything. It's a very lively spot with some of the best restaurants in the city, right on the doorstep. Just note that it's a noisy area so if you're wanting to sleep early and have silence, this is not the spot for you (but it was perfectly fine for me). The hotel room was small but had pretty much everything that I needed. My one complaint is that the pictures of the bathroom did not match what I got. According to the pictures, all the bathrooms are renovated, but unfortunately mine was not and I would not have booked this hotel had I of known this was going to be the case.

Old Spanish vibes
We liked the hostal overall because it had a balcony, it was really close to everything and had a nice old style. It also offers flexible checking/checkout. However the room was incredibly small, not the one in the pictures. The towels are not changed daily and the facilities are limited (eg no hair dryer, small bottles of shower gel etc). There’s also a weird smell probably coming from the building which seems old. Moreover, you better learn Spanish if you want to communicate. Other than that, the employees are very nice, polite and helpful. The place seems safe as they have to unlock the door downstairs.

Overall great place, first the pros; very centric, clean, nice a renovated room, nice compact bathroom, a/c and heater, big tv, wi-fi, balcony, the not so good; all beds are twin size place together, slow wifi, and noisy street (small price to pay in exchange for the great location)

I have stayed at this hostel twice and each time. The location is great, room including bathroom is small, clean but dated and staff very helpful and welcoming. I would stay there again.

The hotel was modest but comfortable, for the most part. The only complaint we had was that our air conditioner was barely working and so we didn’t sleep our best. The staff was very helpful to us and friendly. I think the hotel was a good value for the mo eye and the location was good, just a couple minutes walk from Sol metro station.
