Ideal Hotel for a train travellers

Posted Jul 16, 2014
Pros: Location couldn't be better for train travellers.
Cons: Only there overnight so can't really comment.
Location: It's in the business area of Madrid so not particularly interesting for sightseers but ideal for business people or travellers.
We flew into Madrid late at night and chose to stay at the Husa Chamartin as we were booked on an early train to Salamanca the following morning. The hotel is accessed via the station concourse. The surrounding area is not interesting for a casual visitor but the transport connections into the centre of Madrid and to other Spanish cities are terrific. It's a business hotel primarily (we noticed there are lots of meeting rooms available for hire) but rooms are comfortable and quiet, reception services excellent and the room rate through expedia was very reasonable. No problem being on time for our train the next morning either!

NOT A 4-STAR HOTEL!!

Posted Apr 27, 2014 on Hotels.com
I wish I could post pictures to show what the rooms at this hotel really look like. To say that it is outdated is an understatement. Old furniture, dirty carpets, uncomfortable beds, and I could go on and on. It is right outside the train station, which is very convenient, and my room was pretty clean (except for stains on the carpet). I wouldn't be so bothered if it wasn't for the fact that I paid a lot for what I thought was a 4-star hotel and it turned out to be a 2-star hotel at best.

Total Disappointment

Posted Dec 25, 2013 on Hotels.com
I normally don't complain, but I wish I had read the entire reviews before making my decision. The only plus about this hotel was the location; train station was conveniently located below the hotel and taxis were readily available. The hotel, itself needs serious upgrading. I felt like we were living in the 70's. Carpets were thin with stains; the beds felt like box springs and were really uncomfortable. Nearly froze the first night because we couldn't find the thermostat. Figured they didn't have one. Bute it happens, there was switch located on the night stand(Hubby had to ask the front desk). The breakfast buffet was a total disappointment. I managed to stick to bread, ham and cheese and OJ. The eggs didn't look right, and I didn't want to figure out the rest of the menu. The front desk when we checked in was rude. Had to ask where everything was. Felt as if we were bothering them. Thank goodness we were staying 2 nights. I couldn't handle staying more. However, it did serve it's purpose. We need to be near an establishment and were able to walk there. If we had to return to Madrid, which we will, we will definitely NOT be staying there again.

Good overnight hotel

Posted Oct 20, 2013
Pros: Convenience to the train station.
Cons: Upgrading the rooms, but it's ok for an overnight stay.
Location: Right in Chamartin Train Station.
Husa Chamartin is perfect for an overnight stay at this train station. It is clean, comfortable, and a good value. Though older, everything worked and the room was quite comfortable and quiet. It's easy to reach from Madrid Airport using the quick light rail system.

No way it deserves 4 stars

Posted Jul 31, 2013 on Hotels.com
Just about got value for money here, we felt like we were in a prison a times due to the covers on the windows, very little sound proofing could hear everything that went on above and below us and out in the hallway. Despite the resturaunt being advertised, I was told it was closed until September, the beds were horrible, you could feel the springs digging into your back, was ok for 1 night but couldn't spend a full weekend there.

Pros: Nothing
Cons: dirty and no disabled facilities
Location: ok, next to renfe station
absolutely no disabled facilities what so ever. I asked on reception if there was a disabled bathroom on the reception level. The answer was 'no' so there I am in a wheel chair and all they could offer me was a room key for the fourth floor! After a struggle to get up there because the elevator kept shutting before I could get my wheel chair through the doors. I got to the room they gave me the key for. It wasn't even disabled facilities and I my chair wouldn't fit in. I went back down stairs, told them and they just shrugged. Hotel messy, saw the women mopping the floor and used the same mop the wash down the plant pots outside and where people smoked, hotel smelt, bathrooms dirty. Bedding old and dated. Noisy students just hanging out in the corridors and stair wells. Chamber maid barged into our room at 8am. TV was broken. Couldn't expect much more really for the price but cleanliness cost nothing. If you are disabled DO NOT stay here.

Chamartin Hotel

A very adequate budget style hotel especially if you need to be close to Chamartin Railway Station.
