Close to CHUECA Area and main attractions

Posted Sep 8, 2014
Cons: Stop closing the rooftop for private parties.
The hotel staff and amenities are very good. Very polite staff and helpful, they speak English although I do speak Spanish. The rooftop terrace/ bar was nice, but closed to often to be enjoyed for private parties, this was annoying since we could not go to the rooftop often. The location was great, near nice restaurants and the gay area, CHEUCA and many major sites. Great place to stay. The breakfast was good as well.

Hotel De Las Letras

The staff at the receptionist were very friendly and helpful. My room was always clean. The only bad experience was at the bar ( top of the roof), we had two young kids as our waiters, but after our first drink never came back to check if we wanted another drink, or if we were ready for our check, in fact we asked for chips and they never brought to us. Overall I would still go back to this hotel.

Cool little boutique hotel in the heart of the action. Staff very friendly and helpful. Quiet rooms despite the city street balcony. I would definitely stay here again!

Nice centrally located hotel.

Pros: The rooms were clean and comfortable. The wifi worked great.
Cons: The lobby is small but we didn't spend much time there.
Location: The location is excellent for getting around to all the major sites and is only a block from the metro.
We found this hotel to be centrally located and the staff to be extremely helpful. There were no problems at all and the hotel has a nice rooftop bar. Rooms were nice and everything worked well.

This is a beautiful hotel. Set in an old building but decorated in a modern exciting way. Staff were great, room was very comfortable, everything to a very high standard. Perfect location. I would definitely go back.

Great Location

Hotel is in a great location for exploring old Madrid. Hard to find as it is just a door on the main street, but in the heart of the old city with most locations within 30 minutes walk. Currently, taxi from and to airport to old city center Madrid is 35 euros each way. Extra 5 euro fee if taxi is called by hotel to pick you up and travel time is about 15 minutes. I would recommend to anyone looking to stay a day or two and wanting to see the city.

Unbelievably noisy!

Posted Jun 17, 2014
Pros: The staff.
Cons: Noise reduction
Location: Very central location, minutes from the Paseo del Prado where the art museums are. Minutes from Plaza del Sol. About a 20 minute walk to the Palace.
The hotel staff were great, the room was nice and clean, however the amount of noise from the street was unbelievable. The week before I stayed at another hotel in Madrid not too far from the location of this one and yet that hotel was quiet. I can only assume that the windows are thinly paned. I barely got any sleep from the sound of cars honking, people shouting and sirens blaring. I of course understand that this is a city and that the Grand Via is a busy street, but the difference in noise between the two hotels was remarkable. It is a shame because the hotel staff were really lovely and eager to help, but I won't be going back to this hotel again.
