Look elsewhere for 5 star quality in MadridPosted Feb 2, 2015
Experienced double-billing problems requiring hours of emailing to rectify. Given a double-bed instead of the booked King-size bed. Dirty, worn carpet in bedroom. Inattentive service in Goya restaurant and when very under-cooked fowl sent back to kitchen, no offer made to replace, had to pay for another entree. Door lock to room did not work, had to make several calls to maintenance. The hotel has really gone down in quality and appears to survive on its past reputation. The concierges are good, but the rest no longer seems like a 5-star hotel. Very disappointing experience.

Good location but hotel is oldPosted Nov 28, 2014
I did not enjoy my stay in this hotel and I am not going to stay over again. we order a breakfast in the room the delivery person did let us charge cost of breakfast to room, he said only cash, and I did not have any cash with me at that time. I had to make serveral calls to different group in the hotel to resolve this issue. Another person came "I think he is his manager" they don't speak English. I tried to explain to him the issue, he called another person on phone and there talking loudly inside my room while my sick wife was sleeping. After approximately 10 min he said okay will charge your room. I was very disappointed about it.

Well located, nar El Prado that I visited twice.Posted Nov 20, 2014
Pros: The style, a piano playing in the dinner room, good location.
Cons: The gym maybe.
Location: Great, I love the El Prado museum and it is across the street.
Very good, it is a classic and old style hotel that you do not find in many places these days, like our grand fathers used to travel many year ago but with modern things as well. I would definitely come back.

Classic hotel very well locatedPosted Nov 9, 2014
The hotel perhaps a bit worn but still a lovely place. It is perfectly located near the major museums. Price was reasonable for a Ritz. Staff was fantastic especially the concierge services.
