The Ritz is a wonderful experience

Posted Apr 10, 2015
Pros: The staff are excellent
Cons: Can not think of anything wrong
Location: Excellent location, near the Prado and within walking distance of the Sol and Plaza Mejor. One block from Retiro Park
Upon arrival, we were met by the doorman and warmly received. The check in process was easy, quick and efficient. I believe the woman who checked us in was from management and I believe her name was Emma (hope I remembered correctly). Our room was excellent and the Easter candy in our room was a nice touch. This Ritz was WAY above the competition (we stayed in the Petit Palace aso which was nice but not the Ritz).

Ritz Madrid.

Posted Apr 7, 2015
Pros: The decor, food, service, location.
Cons: A pool would be an amazing addition.
Wonderful hotel in the very centre of Madrid. The hotel itself and garden are beautiful. The decor is very old, however I will be sad the next time I go back if they have "refurbished" it. Our room was on the small side but gorgeous. We loved the doorman, who is a real character and very helpful. All the staff were great. Sometimes the service was a little slow, however the staff were so lovely a small wait wasn't an issue for us. We travelled as a family and our 6 year old loved her teddy and all the other lovely things the hotel provided for her. I would highly recommend the Ritz Madrid and will definitely go back.

Look elsewhere for 5 star quality in Madrid

Posted Feb 2, 2015
Pros: Concierges
Location: Prado
Experienced double-billing problems requiring hours of emailing to rectify. Given a double-bed instead of the booked King-size bed. Dirty, worn carpet in bedroom. Inattentive service in Goya restaurant and when very under-cooked fowl sent back to kitchen, no offer made to replace, had to pay for another entree. Door lock to room did not work, had to make several calls to maintenance. The hotel has really gone down in quality and appears to survive on its past reputation. The concierges are good, but the rest no longer seems like a 5-star hotel. Very disappointing experience.
