An experience in design and form.Posted Oct 29, 2013
Pros: Absolutely loved the really modern design ideas and innovative way different designers were used on each floor, friendly staff and fabulous hotel tour
Cons: Some rooms looked perfect but our room up in the clouds could definitely have done with better seating arrangements and tea & coffee making facilities
Location: Convenient for airport. Pretty easy to get into Central Madrid via public transport which is not expensive but not much to do within walking distance
This hotel is worth at least one visit and possibly several more if you can book specific rooms on different floors. All the floors are dramatically different and each an experience in totally modern and exciting living. However- function and practicality is not necessarily part of this as design and form are the definite winners. There was nowhere to sit comfortably in our room or anywhere for neat storage, so our colourful belongings rather spoilt the mood of the totally white room but other floors looked better appointed. We also had a 'floating' bed which looked great, had a wonderful view, but no headboard to lean against whilst looking at the view which was uncomfortable. Also the meagre shelf behind the bed that acted as desk and table was impractical and belongings easily knocked off. Our booking didn't include breakfast, which was rather on the pricy side but really good and extensive. Book a tour of the hotel so you can get a proper look at all the other floors, the innovative ideas and what you are missing out on or which room you might choose next time! I feel mean complaining about the rooms shortcomings as it really was a good experience staying and we looked forward to our return each night and enjoying a really different type of hotel room instead of the same old generic rooms where you could be in any city. A brave idea, I hope lots of folks get to try something a bit different.

Great Hotel but no Conceirge?Posted Oct 10, 2013
Pros: Design elements were amazing! This is a unique hotel.
Cons: Random front desk people fill Concierge role. One girl told us "I don't go out much, I don't know." Another didn't know anything about Bull fights.
Location: Safe Area, good neighborhood, but far from the meca of restaurants/bars/downtown area.
Great hotel in a cute neighborhood, however about a 15 minute drive or $20 Cab ride from downtown (SOL Area).

Beautiful boutique hotel a bit out of the centrePosted Sep 2, 2013
Pros: The room we stayed in was quirky but lovely. Nice to have access to a (small) pool. The bar isn't bad on Fri/Sat nights with a fab view from the top.
Location: Quite a bit out of the centre & not much around the hotel itself. The metro is close but I still felt I had to leave early to get the last metro home.
We arrived at the hotel and got to choose the floor we stayed on - we chose floor 7 which was "curvy" but rather beautiful. The whole place is extremely stylish. We were also told that we could also change rooms mid-stay if we wanted to but we liked it so much we stayed in in that one. The room was always cool and quiet, despite it being the middle of August. Not a room for the prudish because the bathroom/shower/toilet area was rather exposed and had mirrored walls - but this is a double room, so if you're sharing a big round bed you've probably seen it all before! The free Wi-Fi was a plus (but not the fastest connection) and the mini bar was extensive. The staff were friendly and helpful. The main drawback of this hotel is the location - it isn't very central and there isn't much close by (especially mid-week). It is, however, very close to the metro Cartagena (line 7) and walkable to Avenida de America (lines 4,6,7,9). This means you can get to everywhere in central Madrid in about 30 mins... BUT the metro that doesn't run that late (by Madrid nightlife standards, anyway) and if you plan a big night out then getting home isn't that easy after 01:30. There are, of course, buses and taxis all night if you can work them out... All in all, it was beautiful hotel but I think that for another holiday I'd stay more centrally... but for a business trip, or for early birds, it would be perfect.

Great hotel but not designed for familiesPosted Aug 24, 2013
Pros: Restaurant Staff
Cons: Bar prices
Location: Not central so you will need to travel for the main sites.
My daughter chose this hotel which is stunning. Each floor is designed by different designers: ours being Norman Foster for the 2nd floor. Hotel fascilities are excellent although the bar prices are a bit OTT. Pool is on the top floor with views over Madrid. Only criticism is the bathrooms are all open plan with the bedrooms. - not great when you have kids. We had connecting rooms so managed by staying in 1 while each had a shower in the other. Not sure how you would manage if you had the 1 room. The hotel is not near the centre so you will need to get around by metro or taxi's. For the 4 of us we went around by taxi - approx 12 Euros from Hotel to Real Palace which for the distance is great. Their restaurant is fantastic but pricey - worth the treat.
