“Terrible customer service”
This was our last stop and we found that the hotel front desk personnel were the least helpful and begrudgingly assisted us. Very few spoke English or even attempted to speak English. Rude is how I describe it. We asked for directions to the Airport since we had rented a car and they gave us directions in Spanish, when we asked them to give them to us in English they said it was not possible. Finally they gave me a password so I could go on the net and print out the directions myself. This is a four or five star hotel but you have to pay for wifi. The valet was very courteous and professional. The hotel is between 20 to 30 minutes from the airport.
“Value for money”
Male receptionist at night was always extremely friendy and helpful. Daytime receptionists not so much. Overall stay was okay, and location was excellent - close to Cortes Ingles for shopping and metro station. Breakfast special at the hotel for eight Euros per person was worth it. We had booked a summer special which gave us a 4pm check out on departure date. Housekeeping knocking at the door throughout the last day and even cleaning the rooms to ready it for arrival of new guests, even though we were entitled to a late check out, spoilt our rather enjoyable stay here. Scale to weigh luggage in the lobby was an excellent addition to travellers. Overall it was value for money.
“Great days at Madrid, Spain”
Husa Moncloa is a great hotel! It had everything I needed at the moment I arrived and kept goign on all my stay in this hotel. It's quite close to some interesting areas, like Plaza de España and Templo de Debod. Morevoer the shopping area in Madrid full of malls is behind this Hotel! It's a great option to stay in Madrid, Spain.
“Big Corner room with a nice view of Madrid”
Of the 3 hotels I stayed in Spain this one was the best. Got a Corner room with a nice view and very spacious.
“Great Location and Great Rooms”
The location of the hotel is well commuted. Rooms are very big and comfortable. Garage is a little expensive.
“Great hotel near neighborhoods and shopping”
We stayed here one night and were impressed by the size of the room. There was a lot of space, which made it feel like more of a one bedroom apartment sans kitchen than a basic hotel room. Although we were there for pleasure, this would be a great hotel for business travelers needing to stay a while. It was also near metro access, shopping at the enormous Corte Ingles department store, and other nice walks.
“Nice place, good location, great price”
I love deals and this hotel is definitely one. If you are looking for a fancy 4-star hotel, but would rather pay a little less and would stay in a slightly older room (operative word is "slightly") to do so, you've come to the right place. The Husa Moncloa is in the exact same building as the very new and fancy Husa Princesa hotel. It's just around the side. But the Husa Princesa has a hotel bar and restaurant, so if you like to stay close for good meals, it's got all the conveniences of that hotel, too. Our room in Husa Moncloa was huge with a nice comfy bed, closet, safe, minibar, couches, his and hers sinks, a bidet, books about Madrid, etc. We easily got extra blankets from the closet and pillows by calling the front desk. The bathroom was very nice--marble floors and tiles. The front desk staff were knowledgeable and helpful, although perhaps a bit begrudgingly. The hotel includes a membership to a full service gym (like a serious gym with members outside the hotel--not a small hotel gym). There is a small pool in the gym, but not really for recreation. No other hot tub or pool that I know of which was the only bummer. As for food, there is a huge grocery store next door: El Cortez Ingles. The Princesa hotel terrace restaurant is very well-priced. 17 Euros for a prixe-fixe meal which includes a glass of beer or wine, soup/salad, entree, and dessert. Really good food too. There's also an indoor eating place with a prixe-fixe of 23 Euros and tapas bar off of the Moncloa.
“Raleigh goes to Madrid”
Everything worked out well at this hotel except communications. The phone was analogue, so one couldn't do any of the "press this number" applications that we've become used to - calling cards, banking, credit card transactions, and the like. That was exacerbated by the expense of internet access which was 15 or 17 or 19 Euros a day in one's room. The number was untenable in any case. However, there was an Internet cafe nearby and phones on the street that sufficed.
“Not so impressed”
Air condition in the room didn't work at all. Front Desk people are not so friendly.
“Not too shabby”
The hotel was clean enough, although its sister hotel that is attached through the lobby was much nicer. They charged you six euros a 1/2 hour to use the internet and the mini-bars are pressure-sensitive. If you buy anything at the grocery store and it put it in the fridge, you'll be charge. The desk was helping in making eating arrangements, but make sure to left them know in advance if you have a tour coming by the hotel to pick you up. They sent ours away when they came by early!
