“Excellent location near Plaza Mayor”
Lovely small boutique hotel w/ laptops in every room. Family room included bunk beds and king bed in separate area. Nice to have a little space! Bed was a bit hard, but overall would highly recommend this hotel.
“Best Location for Metro and Sightseeing”
This hotel is located about a block and a half from the "times square" of Madrid and very metro accessible. It is quiet because it is on a street that doesn't allow cars. It is neat and clean and the staff is helpful. It's great being able to check your email while on vacation.
“Great location”
Although this is an old hotel it has been completely modernized. The hotel staff was extremely helpful in helping us locate several business, restaurants and flamenco. Very centrally located to shopping, restaurants and attractions. Parking is an issue, so if you drive make sure you park in the "Plaza Mayor" Public parking. We plan to revisit this hotel next season.
“Weekend Getaway”
What a great hotel for a weekend away! I highly recommend this hotel as it is in the most ideal location-situated in the midst of the most historic and bustling district of Madrid (near several Metro and buses as well), yet isolated on a little cobblestone street away from the lights and noise. The hotel itself is in an historic building near the Plaza Mayor (pricey but typical restaurants) and near Plaza Santa Ana, which is a lovely little spot for eating and people watching. The interior of the hotel is modern but not imposing and retains a nice cozy quality about it. The rooms were stylish, comfortable, and clean-and the shower made it all worth it! Service was friendly and helpful, internet access in the rooms, and a great breakfast buffet with good strong coffee and a nice selection of Spanish cured meets and cheeses as well as more traditional cereal and scrambled eggs. If you can spend a little extra, I highly recommend this hotel if you are visitng Madrid.
“Loved Madrid!”
We had a great time exploring the city and Toledo on a day trip. Madrid is fun and easy to get around. Hotel is in a great location. Our "triple" room had one queen bed for my wife and I and bunk beds for our 13 and 11 year old daughters. Bathroom was spacious and shower worked great. Hotel was clean and safe. Free internet service in the basement. Staff was very helpful.
“perfect location”
The hotel was actually perfect in every way - understanding that it was European, the room was just fine and the bathroom particularly surpisingly modern and new. The service was mediocre - but that's okay as I was barely there. The best part of the hotel is its location - central to everything and very easy.
“Great location, English-speaking staff”
We stayed here one night, en route from Morocco to DC. I couldn't have been more pleased about the location of this hotel. It was less than a block off Plaza Major and a short walk to all the rest of the old city. There was a wonderful indoor market on the other side of the Plaza. The one problem with the central location was that it was loud. Garbage trucks went by all night and the men working on them were not concerned about being quiet. Still, I am a very light sleeper and with earplugs I did fine. The staff all spoke very good English and were helpful with dinner recommendations, maps, etc. The rooms are very modern. I thought it was kind of a nuisance that the shower had no walls, so that water covered the floor of the entire bathroom for a couple hours after each shower. Not sure where the perk is in that kind of design. But the shower itself was awesome. It had three different jets for a spa experience. The bed was comfortable and there was a laptop connected to the internet in the room. The hotel supposedly had wireless, but we couldn't get it to work on our laptops. I didn't bother asking about it though since we were only there one night. All in all, I would highly recommend this hotel if you want to be in the middle of all the excitement Madrid has to offer. If you want a quiet hotel with big rooms, find somewhere else.
“A great find”
My wife and I just finished 11 days in Spain with our two kids (13 and 9), and concluded that this was one of the very best price/value propositions in the country. The location is perfect, half a block off Plaza Mayor. This area is also wonderfully quiet (thanks to the no-traffic rules in the area), which is a major plus in noisy Madrid. Our family room had two bunks that folded off the wall, which the kids loved, and which still left adequate room for mom and dad. The bathroom was beautifully equipped, with terrific water pressure, and we were not at all troubled by the frosted glass door (commented on by others). The hotel was lovingly renovated within the past year or so, and is immaculately clean throughout. The staff was friendly, helpful and spoke perfect English. Two notes: (1) We did not eat breakfast there (like most places in Spain, it's extra), but I looked over the breakfast buffet, and it was quite a nice spread. (2) Your cabbie may be a bit perplexed as to how to drop you off at the hotel, given the no-traffic rules in this area, but ours ultimately found a good drop off spot less than a block away. The subway is a good alternative, if you don't have exhausted kids who've just taken the trans-Atlantic plane ride -- the Puerta del Sol stop is a short 2-1/2 blocks away .
“Ideal location”
Excellent hotel!! Ideal location to shopping, the square, & resaurants. Close to the metro( the underground subway) which is next to the MacDonalds). Very clean and quaint hotel. The only suggestion I can pass on is learn Spanish restaurant vocabulary so you can know what to order.
“Easy access from the metro/plazas”
This hotel was a little more expensive than I would like, but it's right on the Plaza Mayor in Madrid so I expected that. The hotel was nice, the staff at the front desk were really great, and it's close to the metro from the airport - I would recommend staying here,
