Stinky, stingy, noisy, dirty old hotel!! Awful!Posted Nov 24, 2013
I had carefully planned the close of our Spain vacation to rest up in Madrid before flying back to US. The hotel is outdated, and if they want that as its' decor, at least have it clean! It was smelly and very cold. The mattresses are hard and very old. It was so noisy outside of our window because of old windows and a balcony looking out with a door probably from the 40's that did not shut securely. We were told breakfast was at 7:00, so when we went down to eat and had to catch the hotel shuttle at 7:45....they said it would not be ready until 7:30 even though all the food was sitting out. I cancelled my 13 euro breakfast and went back in and got coffee (which I was going to pay for). .while doing so the clerk came in and accused me of taking buffet! I was appalled. This was the worst part of our vacation and needless to say we left for the airport having hardly slept, cold, and hungry....and paying the hotel shuttle 37 euros for a 15 minute ride!! Don't let the website fool you this place stinks...literally!

Great locationPosted Nov 13, 2013
Pros: Location Staff -- very helpful
Cons: Provide hair conditioner. Offer some way to get coffee in the morning. Put some curtains up -- there are rods already in place.
Location: Very central location with great transport links. Must see the palace, the Prado, the botanic gardens and the Sunday flea market.
I can't say I have any complaints about the hotel. The location was amazing, however our room overlooked the square, so it was a bit noisy at night. We put on the room fan as white noise and had no issues. There were only net curtains, but once we closed the shutters it was sufficient. Our room was a bit tired. And they did not provide conditioner. Also for breakfast you had to do the buffet. For someone who prefers just a cup of coffee, this was not good. Luckily there was a McCafe around the corner.

Very old hotel..Posted Nov 7, 2013
The Hotel looks good when you get in, but after you walk at the hallways and rooms you get just disappointment, is very old and need a lot of restaurantion.. The carpets are old and the bathrooms too. I was not one of my favorites. The location is ok.. A couple places like redline around...

Great location, out-of-date hotel.Posted Nov 4, 2013
This hotel has a bidet, a press machine (for your clothes as opposed to an iron), and an actual key for your room. However, it is in an excellent location and we could walk everywhere worth seeing. I would stay there again.

Excellent base for a short stayPosted Oct 28, 2013
Pros: Its general air of calmness
Cons: Please try and avoid using two single beds pushed together to make a double. It doesn't work.
Location: Very close to the Gran Via and hence plenty of places to see and to eat in
- Close to the Plazas Mayor and Espana - Very pleasant and helpful staff - Room very good and comfortable, but would have liked something bigger if staying longer - Very clean and well maintained - Some late night noise from street level despite being on the 4th floor - I wish hotels in this range would provide free water - Overall a very enjoyable stay

Don't bother, stay elsewhere.Posted Oct 24, 2013
Cons: Everything. The rooms are outdated and need to be refurbished. The staff need to be trained in the art of customer service.
Location: The location is good, between Gran via, the palace and the opera.
On first impression we were happy enough with our choice of hotel for the price that we had paid, we used the 40% discount secret deal with Expedia. The room was in the attic, although very large it was very hot and stuffy, the air con wasn't efficient enough to cope with the size of room. We were there in mid October, I suspect the heat in the room would be unbearable during the summer. The decor was very out dated and in need of complete refurbishment, the bathroom, although functional was the most awful colour I have ever seen! The main problem with this hotel was the staff, they were rude arrogant totally unhelpful, not good ambassadors for the Spanish to the tourist at all. The reception staff were completely inept and ignorant. We were told that the room hadn't been paid for even though it had. Eventually after 30 minutes of trying to check out the staff admitted that the room had actually been paid in full, no explanation or apology was forth coming, they just shrugged their shoulders and pulled faces at us. Outrageous! Do you self a favour stay elsewhere. There are plenty of lovely hotels in Madrid, all within easy walking distance of the main sights. Many of the hotels are actually cheaper this one and I suspect much better value and much friendlier. You have been warned.

Nice hotel located in downtown close to the metroPosted Oct 12, 2013
Pros: The location is very good.
Cons: The carpets should be renewed.
Location: The location is great. It is close to everything and the metro station is very close.
The room was ready when we arrived. The check in was fast and the breakfast menú is really good.
