Nice hotel in the centre of MadridPosted Feb 21, 2014
Pros: The rooms were always kept very clean and staff were friendly.
Cons: View was off a brick wall in a shaft with plaster falling off. No way of knowing it was night or day or the weather. No ventilation into hot room.
Location: 10-15 minutes walk to parks and the palace. Lots of good places to eat nearby.
Lovely breakfasts included. Huge family room, with very comfortable beds. Good to have a fridge to keep our own water cold in. Location was great; half way between parks and palace. Also close to metro stations.

Easy access to touristy bitsPosted Feb 13, 2014
Pros: Liked the location, as we enjoyed being close to the main park and Prada
Cons: Hotel decoration and furniture was a bit tired and due for a facelift, but the room was clean and comfortable.
Location: Hotel is close to Atocha Station (Toledo Trip), Prada, Park, Sofia thingy Gallery.
Had a great weekend walking about the lovely city. Walked everywhere, including to the hotel at night and didn't see any trouble or feel unsafe.

Madrid, Segovia, and Barcelona TripPosted Feb 2, 2014
Pros: Hotel staff is very friendly and helpful. Room is very clean and has plenty of space including breakast. The breakfast buffet is very good.
Location: Take a trip to visit Segovia and have the suckling roast pigdiner at Jose Maria restaurant. In Madrid, try out the seafood peallel at El Caldero.
This is our 3rd trip to Spain. We spent 7 nights in Madrid. The location of Tryp Atocha Hotel is perfect for visition Old town Madrid and with the convenient access to the rest of city. Metro # 1 is about 500 feet away and Atocha Rail Station is 0.6 mile from hotel or 5 euro by taxi. There are several supermarkets and plenty of restaurant within the walking distance. I definitely will stay at this hotel again when I visit Madrid next time.

Near the trainPosted Jan 12, 2014
The hotel was conveniently located near the Atocha rail station. Since we made several day trips, this was great for us. There was also a metro stop nearby to make it easy to get around town. The breakfast buffet offered a nice variety of choices including, eggs, meats, cheese, fresh fruit and breads. The only downside was the street noise outside the room. Request a room on an upper floor!

Pros: Very nice staff, very nice hotel.
Location: It is near the Plaza del Sol the heart of tourist Madrid.
In a hotel/motel rarely does everything work properly. In this hotel everything was working properly. The breakfast which comes with the room was fantastic....about 50 items are offered.

Overall it was an enjoyable stay.Posted Dec 30, 2013
Pros: Location, easy of getting around.
Cons: Better hotel staff (front desk) training.
Had 1 hotel staff which was very helpful. Others are below the grade, and already expected their negative answers before asking! Famiiy rooms are good for 2A+2 Children. However, there is no view from the window. Breakfast has very good selections.

Good Hotel Close to Atocha Train StationPosted Dec 7, 2013
Pros: Large room, large bathroom.
Location: Up the hill from Atocha Stn, two stops from RENFE. Metro station one block away. Reasonable walking distance from the Prado and Reina Sofia museums.
Reception spoke English and are friendly. Full time security keeps any possible undesirables out and takes care of stored luggage. Fridge in room. Good WIFI (free) in room. Competitive room rates (much less than Barcelona). Numerous local-type shops and eateries close by. Close to Puerta del Sol (15 minute walk or 2 Metro stops away).
