First time in a Tryp hotel. The rooms were larger then I expected and very clean. The breakfast buffet was substantial and a good value. The hotel staff was very courteous and spoke good english. This hotel was within a hundred yards of a Metro stop and very convenient to shopping and entertainment. I will definitely consider Tryp hotels in the future.

“Not Impressed”
Great location, very basic, poor service, the closet is so small that not even the hangers fit, the closet doors were broken, the bedroom telephone didn't work for 3 of the 4 days that I spent in the hotel. I would not recomend this hotel to anyone.

“Good room on Gran Via”
Tryp Washington is in a very good location, for a relatively inexpensive price. The room was basic and clean, but I preferred shopping or spending time in the very near tapas bars. VIPS is a short walk away. Arriving early, you can put luggage in the attached Tryp Menfis, which also has the fitness room with a treadmill and weight machine. Plaza de Espana metro is the stop that's closest when arriving from the airport, or anywhere else. You can go to the nearby Orange phone store to buy a really cheap phone to call back to the USA. In Spain, show a passport to buy a cell phone. For third age nightlife, the Golden Via is just up the street. Have fun at this location.

“ok”
The hotel was ok, but the first room they gaver me had a broken window (it did not close) and the walls were dirty. So I asked for another room, the second one was ok. The best thing it had, for me, was acces to the gym and the location, clos to everything.

“You get a lot for your money with this place”
This hotel was probably the best value we got from all the hotels we visited in Europe on our most recent trip. The room was exceptionally clean. It was also very large by European standards and acceptable by American standards. Most of the major tourist sites are within walking distance of the hotel making this a great place for tourists.
Word of advice with the breakfast: They have a great buffet but if you are interested you should pay for it ahead of time at the front desk. You get charged more if you pay at the actualy dining room. I found this to be a little annoying but my overall impression with the hotel was still positive despite this.

“Great location, noisy neighborhood”
The hotel was a great deal and the location could not be beat! It is less then a two black walk to the Plaza de Espanya metro stop. Hotel room is of a nice size with a large bathroom and in room safe. Note, if you do not get the breakfast plan it is very expensive to eat the buffet! Also since you are downtown it is loud outside. We had a room facing the back instead of the Gran Via and it was still loud because there are two bars behind the hotel. All in all I would recommend this hotel.

“Nice Hotel close to Center”
In all, my wife and I spent 4+1 nights at Tryp Washington with a break for a side trip. The hotel is nice and clean, it strategically located just steps from Metro and 20 min walk from Sol, the staff was extremely helpful. For-fee wireless was a slight minus. The room for a single night stay faced the side street with an Asian market, and strangely was noisier than the other one facing Gran Via, because of plain rather than insulated windows. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
