The guy that checked us in was very nice and helpful. The room was clean, bed was comfy, and the room had no odors. It took awhile for the a/c to cool off the room, but it did so we were good. The shower had a spot that had chipped that should have been fixed. Another, concern was some how flies kept getting in our room, must have killed like four flies before going to bed. Not sure if they were coming in when we opened the door or if they were getting in through the windows. So, that would be something they need to check. Overall the property is pleasing to the eye and clean.

If you can afford it, just go ahead and stay at an actual hotel. Bugs in the room as soon as we got there. Holes in the sheets and stains all over all of the bedding. I stayed in a non smoking room but it definitely smelled like smoke. Overall it’s a pretty rundown place.

Horrible smell on the 2nd floor, towels in our room had several holes and looked to be dirty. Commode was very loose and moved while being used. Room was 87 degrees when we walked in. Room had no iron. TV. microwave oven, and refrig was all plugged into a power strip.

We had to change rooms after we found out that the toilet in our room was not secured to the floor. The first time it was flushed it started leaking onto the bathroom floor. We had to pack all of our stuff and go to another room that was on the opposite side of the building.

Pleasant stay
Great price, clean and comfortable, missing iron and one couldn't be found, so I used the blow hair dryer. Breakfast was really skimpy with fruit loops & corn flakes and I don't eat either of the two. There was coffee and juice. It's an older hotel one of the matriarch left in the city. It worked for me and I didn't see one bug.

Our fridge had a really musky, LINGERING smell, which could have been remedied with some baking soda/water cleaning... it smelled like something spicy had been left there for days and had been removed but fridge was closed and didn't air out. Our cleaning lady heard our grandpuppies bark and said she was not going to service our room because she was allergic to dogs (2 elder mini-dachshunds), we had a do not disturb sign on the door so we didn't expect service... we have stayed here MANY times in the last 3 years (average 8times a year) our 2grandkids are at SAU. We have never asked for service. We clean up and take our own towels. Good price but don't need the attitude. The other hotel will likely be our go to hotel from now on, we still have 4 years to go at SAU!

Cockroaches as soon as we opened the door to our room. Our credit card was charged twice. Only received one refund. I have asked Expedia three or four times to help with the second refund and I have not been helped. I even has the travel protection… what a joke.

The room was ok. The bed was not comfortable. It was worth the price for a few days. Not a place I would want to recommend unless you are low on funds and just need a place to crash for a couple of days.

The premises were very clean and the ruins were surprisingly clean and didn’t smell. The comforter had a cigarette burn in it but otherwise I would highly recommend. If I ever come back, I will stay again

Overall I liked the location and food options near the hotel. The rooms were clean but they could use a few upgrades. The tub/shower drained really slow and the first person (host) I met at the hotel was not very friendly. However, the second person I spoke with was very nice. Lastly, the details on my itinerary confirmed that my check-in time would be at 2pm. However, I was not able to check-in my room until after 3pm.

Buyer Beware - this is not an honest establishment
We reserved a Suite over the weekend. When we arrived we were charged for the Suite for two days but given a regular room. When I checked with the front desk, they acknowledged that I had reserved the Suite but they had given it to someone else but that we could have it for the second night. The next day we were told multiple times that the room wasn't ready but that they would call when it was. We finally stopped checking after 4pm. We were never given the reserved room. The next day the manager promised to credit the difference for the rooms. It never happened. I rarely give a negative review, my experience is that people usually try to provide good service. Unfortunately, the staff here had multiple opportunities to do the right thing for a customer and in every case chose not to. It became apparent after some questions that we had been superseded by a regular customer that wanted the room. It's understandable that the room was let out to the regular. What was unacceptable was that they tried to cover it up as if we wouldn't notice that we didn't get the room we reserved. Then once we asked about the discrepancy, they had multiple opportunities to make it right but instead continued to act as if they were going to take care of us, but never did.
