Decent hotel close to local attractions

Posted May 31, 2014
Pros: Location.
Cons: Do not buy the breakfast they offer. They advertise it includes quite a bit of food, but it was only coffee, juice, and a very burned croissant.
Location: Near the Roman Theater and Alcazaba. Also, not far from the beach and many restaurants.
The hotel was fine. Being remodeled and will look very nice when complete.

Central and Cheap Hotel

Posted Apr 12, 2014
Pros: Location and price.
Cons: I could hear the person in the next room talking in the evening but not at night. Also the front of the hotel is being renovated.
Location: Right in the centre of Malaga near bus stops and the pedestrian precinct with lots of restaurants.
The hotel was very central to Malaga and very reasonably priced. There is a cafe next door for which you can get a breakfast deal for 3.50 euros.

close to all must-see sights

This hotel is good if all you want is a bed to sleep in at night. A no frill hotel within walking distance of city center and the bay. The beach is just a short walk away. There is free wifi in the room. Its located on a side street and there is a taxi stand right outside if you need one. I speak Spanish so don't know how well their English is. I recommend this hotel if all you need is a comfortable place to sleep.

Great location!

Posted Sep 25, 2013
Great location, very central, close to the port, market, main shopping area, bars, restaurants, etc. Friendly staff, looks like it has been recently refurbished or still being so. Our room was quite small, but for the price and category it's okay. Clean too. Recommended for the price/location ratio if nothing else is available nearby.

Budget hotel being rennovated

Posted Sep 19, 2013
Pros: The new decor is tasteful and the bathroom was good.
Cons: Standard of furnishings/flooring etc being employed in refurbishment. Cleaning.
Location: Popular park, mall and waterfront. Old moorish fortress.
Castilla Guerrero is in the throes of renovation and may well come up ok in the end - but at present [Sept 2013] there is a lot of inconvenience due to heavy reconstruction work and the cleaning standards could be better. There was fine gravelly builders rubble under the table. Double glazing keeps out the street noise which helps. But some of the materials being used in renovation/furnishing are too cheap to last - and the bed we had was a very small double although nicely presented. It's close to the waterfront and right in the centre of the city. The temporary lift is extremely small and the temp office is on the 2nd floor.

Close to sights but rather rude personnel

Posted Jul 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
Overall, I would not recommend this place at all. Admittedly, I went there not knowing they were doing major construction on this place, but early in the morning they were doing everything possible to make noise it seemed and there never was an apology about the noise and no warning on your website about it (which I don't fault you for as I am sure this place did not say anything). It was really chaotic to say the least. The icing on the cake was how I was treated.....the personnel really need some lessons on polite and courteous behavior. Don't expect any leniency on checking out either; promptly at checkout time, there was a knock on my door telling me to leave.

Renovations !

Posted Jun 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
Sadly, we arrived for a 1 night stay in the middle of renovations, met by dust and plaster droppings and the noise of drills!! Reception was on 2nd floor and it took time to locate anyone to check in - she was clearly affected by the noise too !! However, the rooms were clean and comfortable, small but new bathroom, quite adequate for an overnight, the bed was comfy and it is an ideal location for the port, shops and sightseeing Later when the noise abated, it was difficult to believe that anything had been going on, people were more helpful and the corridors and stairs were spotless! Until the following morning when it all started again!! Clearly a temporary mishap, but a warning might have been a good idea!! Otherwise, a quite pleasant stat
