Great hotel within tropical gardens close to beachPosted Jul 28, 2015
Pros: The resort layout is well designed, the plaza gave focus for the evening. The gardens are interesting and fabulous. The Tennis courts are great.
Cons: On arrival, the attention to the details could have been better, it didn't make a good first impression.
Our experience didn't get off to a good start. The rooms key cards didn't work, which meant going back to reception. An additional bed (which had been requested wasn't in the room) another call to reception. When it did arrive, it took another call for the bedding to arrive. The porter delivered our laggage, he showed us around the room, explained the safe, air-conditioning, WiFi Nexus tablet, I pod etc. He mentioned the hotel was very busy and suggested we make reservations for dinner, if we wanted to eat at one of the resorts many restaurants. We followed his advice and spoke to the concierge who in turn was to book our selected venues and inform us by leaving a note in room. That didn't happen. Again another trip to reception for an apology and explanation and to be informed they had been too busy! However, once those issues had been addressed the stay was great. The hotel grounds are beautiful, well cared for tropical gardens, meandering paths and a bubbling stream running down towards the beach. The pools were clean. The breakfast offered a massive variety to select from, the quality was very good. The restaurants cater for many different tastes. We experienced the Del Mar, Sea grill, Thai Gallery, Serafina, Bibo and Rachels (poolside bar) all food was enjoyable. We played tennis, hiring court and rackets at the resort, the facilities were excellent, if a little expensive. The rackets hired were poor quality, take your own if you like to play. Staff were pleasent

Ferie i lavt gearPosted Jul 17, 2015

The Best Just Got BetterPosted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: The village-type setting is quiet and attractive. Great breakfast.
Cons: The Beach Club pool rules could be better enforced: a minority reserved sunbeds and some children were noisy for overlong periods.
Location: Great location, roughly mid way between Puerto Banus and Marbella; both towns are within walking distance along the excellent seafront promenade.
We have always enjoyed the Puente Romano but the addition of new restaurants in the centre of the "Plaza Village" and a new, lively bar area elevates it to a new level. In the evening, the central area used to be very quiet and the old restaurants were uninspiring. Now, the centre is buzzing: it gives residents a compelling reason, several compelling reasons, to use the hotel restaurants rather than travel further afield. We tried 3 of them (I think there are 6) and they were all very good indeed. Whilst the prices were not cheap, the food offered good value for money, such was its quality. Our only disappointment was that the double we had booked was very small: we were unable to open the wardrobe doors without them banging against the bedside table, there was barely room for the easy chairs supplied and it was impossible to sit on the toilet without one's legs hard against the wall opposite. We paid an extra E90 per night to upgrade to a suite.

Wonderful placePosted Jul 6, 2015
Pros: Everything. It had a great feel.
Location: It's slightly off the main road halfway between Marbella and puerto Banus and right onto the beach.
Staying at the Puente Romano feels like being in hotel room in a Spanish village. We had a very contemporary beautifully decorated room in one of the small buildings that was similar to having your own apartment. The bathroom was huge. Very up to date technology with sensor lights as you move to different zones in the room. Breakfast was fabulous with lots of choice of excellent quality food. The gym was a very good size with plenty of equipment. The choice of restaurants cannot be faulted. Several pools to choose from and right onto the beach too. All of the staff were very friendly and always greeted us if we were passing. We will definitely be coming back.

Wij gaan september weer!

A super hotel! Super layout, restaurants onsitePosted May 6, 2015
Cons: Very little. Even with building work going on the impact was minimal.
We had a fantastic time. Hotel staff could not be more accommodating. The room was spacious, comfortable and very well maintained. When we ate at some of the various restaurants on site the quality of food was outstanding. I would recommend this hotel without question. No need to move - full relaxation with all needs met onsite.
