Very nice, but...Posted Aug 8, 2014
The resort is very well maintained and there is everything you could need on site from regular kids activities, leisure centre, 3 pools, beach, 2 resort restaurants/bars (with many others close by). This is a great location and resort for families. The only downside we found is that we were not allocated an apartment until a few days prior to arrival (late July) having booked 5 months earlier. It seems that booking via a third party (Expedia) meant we were almost seen as second class citizens as we were allocated arguably the worst located apartment on the site (near the main entrance/security gates & bars). Which meant we were exposed to occasional noise late at night when the bars shut (generally midnight) and then in the morning (from 08:15) when the resort was gearing up for another day. If you can avoid the 'Luisa' block of apartments this resort can offer you a really great family holiday!

Beautiful Resort Overall But Some FlawsPosted Jun 1, 2014
Pros: Beautiful grounds. Excellent restaurants nearby. Some staff helpful. Ideal location. Good value for money.
Cons: Reception staff be more solicitous, less complacent. Treat non-timeshares as valued guests. Mngmt attention to preparation of rooms and soundproofing.
Location: Excellent golf courses. Brilliant beaches. Very good restaurants and supermarkets. Cable car for children.
There are many good things about this hotel and overall it is very good value for money. We had our own hire car, so we found the location of the hotel very convenient, close to many of the places in Costa Del Sol that one might want to visit. The hotel grounds are well maintained and beautiful and in close proximity to a small beach for the hotel. Excellent restaurants were nearby (Italian: Da Vinci's; French creperiel Indian: the Spice Club). Many of the residents are time share owners and they often have the best rooms at peak times such as half term (when we visited). This tends to leave the somewhat less attractive rooms without a seaview for people who book through Expedia. As a family we are perhaps over fastidious but we initially found our apartment smelt a bit stale. Management should check each room is in tip-top condition before new guests arrive. There was very poor soundproofing in the building we were staying in, and if you're a light sleeper like myself this could be a problem, when the children in the apartment above starting running around early in the morning. It's just not good enough to put a notice in each apartment asking people to be good enough. The resort management need to be 'all over' these problems. We sensed a slight sense of complacency in the way the resort is managed - especially with regards to paying guests compared to the timesharers. We were never asked if we needed anything changed or if were happy with the room, etc.

On the Mediterranean and close to buses and trainsPosted May 10, 2014
Pros: I especially liked the location . . on the Mediterranean, on a bus line with great activities and tours.
Cons: Build in the electricity and WIFI fees into the maintenance fees. Paying extra for something we all use, doesn't make sense.
Location: Walk 2 minutes and you're on the Mediterranean;walk 7-10 minutes and you're at bus stops north or south to connections to Sevilla, Granada, Gibralter.
The hotel is clean, interesting, energetic, and close to services: groceries, ATMs, post offices, markets, buses and trains to sights (Sevilla, Tangier, Gibralter, etc), and bus to/from the airport. The staff were helpful, knowledgeable, and spoke great English. The only negative is the required fees for WIFI. No other hotel in my experience charges extra for WIFI and I'm sure most everyone wants it. Paying extra for WIFI seems very 1990s. I think the WIFI fees should be built in to maintenance fees. Same for electricity. Pay extra for electricity? In spite of these two oddities, Dona Lola is a great place, perfectly located with great services, especially for those of us who don't want to rent a vehicle.

A long weekend stay in a great location.Posted Apr 25, 2014
Pros: price of the stay On the seafront
Location: There were some great restaurants close by, we had a great meal in Devine's which is fully recommended!
Family of four staying over Easter holiday weekend for 4 nights. Fortunately we had our own car to get about, and made use of the great location. We stayed in a one bed aptmt which was quite roomy, but if we stayed again it would be a two bedroom, as we had to get a sofa bed out evey evening.

location, location, locationPosted Jan 15, 2014 on Hotels.com
We spent 5 days of absolute bliss at Dona Lola in January soaking in the sun. From the Margerita block where we were staying, you woke up to great sunrises on the Mediterranean. The staff is really nice and goes out of the way to help. Its on the A7 and right on the beach and served as a great location for our drives to Marabella, Mijas, Grenada and Ronda. There are plenty of restaurants and supermarkets in the vicinity. The resort itself looks a bit old but the location and the views make up for it.

Excellent Apartment, lovely complex, prefect.Posted Oct 18, 2013
I stayed here with my boyfriend for a week. We had a wonderful time, the location was perfect for long walks along the beach, good food and entertainment nearby as well as cosy nights in. My boyfriend is a chef and so cooked 2 evenings and the facilities in the apt were excellent. Our shower didn't work when we arrived so we called reception within an hour the maintenance man had fitted us a whole new shower! The service was impeccable. This complex should have a 4 star rating at least. The singer Lourdes wasn't very good who sings there every Thursday but Steve Nelson at Ridgeways nearby was excellent. I would also recommend dinner at the nearby El Oceano Hotel. We will definitely be back next year xx
