Excellent standard - almost Hyatt-Level

Posted Jan 25, 2015
Pros: + Absolute highlight of the hotel is the private uninhabited island of Lunobo - the island belongs to the hotel, is 5 min by boat away and you there a
Cons: - For breakfast the choice of fruits was very limited (only watermelon, ananas, papaya, apple, orange, sometimes guave). Being on a tropical island we
Location: Great excursions
The key features of the hotel is an excellent location, great service and not too many guests. There are a few plusses and minuses that we want to mention specifically: + The hotel is very very quiet + The island has only 50 rooms with a maximum of 100 guests - therefore the guests are very well dispersed across the island. We never ever had the impression that there were too man guests in any place - quite to the contrary we very often had the impression that we were alone in our section of the beach etc. + The beach is really really nice - white sand, palm trees, ver clean water, well cleaned beach + With very few exceptions the service is really good - staff are well trained, very committed and ready to take on any problem you might have. Special thanks to the multilingual guest relations manager Beaand to our waiter Ilham - the two of you really made our stay. Also the barman from Sri Lanka was really nice to us (even speaks some German) + The transfer is very well arranged - there is a hotel-specific lounge at the wateraircraft terminal + The fitness room is very nice - quite new equipment and good air conditioning + The excursions on offer are great and have reasonable prices (turtle tour, manta tour, whaleshark tour) - the excursions are led by the marine biologist of the hotel - Amanda. The excursions are not actively advertised - nicely unobstrusive

Amazing Honeymoon trip

Posted Jan 3, 2015
Maafushivaru is a paradise! Highly recommended for Honeymoon! The sea and beach are really beautiful. The Island is very quiet and very suitable for relaxing! The WaterVilla we stayed is very comfortable and clean. We can see many fish swimming around our villa. The water level only reaches our waist. We can go into the water from our villa. We joined the snorkelling class. The coach Amanda is very professional and nice! She brought us to see many fishes! We see a baby shark! After the snorkelling, she immediatly took a towel to me when she found me cold! All the staff are very friendly. The meal is quite good too! It won't be too repetitive coz they cook in different ways. We joined the full-board plan, but drinks are not included. We need to pay for each juice. We joined the honeymoon package. The candle light dinner on the beach is super wonderful!!!

Non vale quanto costa

Posted Jan 2, 2015

Excellent Resort

Posted Dec 29, 2014
Pros: Quiet and few guests
Cons: Serving more seafood will fit the theme of the island resort.
Beautiful coral right at the resort. We did lots of snorkeling by simply swimming out from our water villa. Hotel staff members were friendly and polite. We enjoyed fully during our short stay at the resort. We checked in our room right when we arrived at 8am and enjoyed our breakfast there.

Honeymoon Experience

Posted Oct 7, 2014
Pros: Staff committment to your holiday experience is outstanding. We forgot contact solution. They had some couriered in the next day without charging!
Cons: Food. The variety is great, but comparing with other resort buffets, the quality is below par. Very bland all round.
Location: Sunset cruise, Spa, private island trips, fantastic house reef (snorkelling). Diving etc although we did not go.
Excellent service and plenty of smiles. Maafushivaru made us feel very special. Great communication pre-trip, all throughout our 6 night stay. Easy to navigate at airport to find where to go. Special honeymoon packages, massages, free champagne, beach dinner etc. This is a small island reachable by seaplane which in itself is a must. We went to 2 islands for our honeymoon. We found that Maafushivaru felt less commercial - it felt like the island was ours (and they even have a sister island if you want more exclusivity). The house coral reef is fantastic. Jump off the pier and snorkel with an amazing variety of fish without the need to travel on an excursion.

UN RESORT DE TRES ESTRELLAS A PRECIO DE CINCO

Posted Aug 29, 2014

Posted Aug 28, 2014 on Hotels.com

Heaven on Earth

Everything about Maafushivaru (except how to pronounce the resort name :) ) was perfect. The location - crystal clear water to snorkel with rainbows of fish, turtles, sharks, rays. Beautiful rooms over the water. Food choices galore. Friendly staff. We originally chose to go "full board" but when we got there we were told that all drinks - even water - would then be extra. So we upgraded to "all inclusive" and all was fine. Yes, it is expensive, but make it a once-in-a-lifetime trip and you will not be disappointed. My husband went there to scuba dive, but realized that the snorkeling is just as beautiful, so you don't have to do go anywhere outside the resort's reef to view everything. I am a timid swimmer, but had no fears in the super salty, buoyant waters there. Don't plan to wear shoes anywhere... Oh, you have to add on the expense of the seaplane (over USD$300 per person) but that is another amazing experience.
