“Can't wait to go back”

This a very good quality 3 star hotel. Lobby, bar and food presentation in the restaurant are in our view 4 star. Location is great, 5 min to a fantastic beach and next to a big number of restaurants/shops of various types and categories. The only problems we had were ants in the room and a strange light smell - but it was not critical.

The Hotel Astoria Playa in Alcudia deserves recommendation. It is smaller than many, and so has a firendly atmosphere. Everywhere was spotlessly clean, and all the staff very helpful. Every room has a balcony. Mine overlooked the garden at the front of the hotel. I was glad of that, as it did not get much sun on that side, and was a cool place of retreat in the middle of the day. The pool area is secluded and restful, but it takes only five minutes to stroll to the beach. There was an excellent choice of numerous dishes on the dinner buffet each night. I would have liked a free glass of drinking water with my meal, but the cheapest option for a drink was to buy a bottle of water costing a few pounds. Unfortunately, this water was not to my taste. I was disappointed that there were no tea/coffee making facilities in the room, but I was able to hire a kettle from reception, and I purchased a mug. I would suggest you take tea bags and dried milk with you, if required, as well as a hairdryer. There is entertainment every evening except Saturday, which is varied and enjoyable. The area feels quite safe, should you wish to wander out and about in the evenings. I am disabled, but was quite comfotable at this hotel.

“A good package holiday type hotel”

This hotel seems to specialise in package holidays. My previous experience of this type of hotel has been very poor but I was pleasantly surprised with the Astoria Playa. Instead of inedible food (like I expected) the food was OK. Instead of grumpy staff, we gots smiles. The room was comfortable and fairly well decorated, the pool area was about the right size, there were lots of local amenities. All of it very geared for Brit and German tourists - KFC, Pizza Hut. For an easy sun and beach holiday without any hassles this place seems a good choice.

“Lovely hotel”

This is a lovely and friendly hotel, very helpful reception staff. Breakfast was lovely with a good choice. In a great location, short walk to the beach, restaurants etc. We are a younger couple and did enjoy it but probably more suitable for older couples and families
