An excellent hotel

Posted Jul 18, 2014
What a super hotel this is. We stayed for a week last week, paid for a sea view room and buffet breakfast. The week prior to our arrival I emailed the hotel to request a high room and an early check in. Both were granted. We had a super top floor room over looking the sea, with Palma to our right. Stunning. One noticeable plus-point was that practically no sunbeds were reserved early in the morning, we were able to have a leisurely breakfast and have our choice of sunbeds and umbrella at 8.30 or 9am. I put this down to it being an adults only hotel, with sensible guests! The buffet breakfast itself had a very good choice of continental, hot and cold, cereals etc and decent drinks machines. The hotel was renovated in 2008 and it is still in looking tidy and brand new. The Reception staff were always very helpful. Another plus point is its proximity to the airport - the taxi ride is only 5 mins and cost approximately €15. There is plane noise and they are visible from the hotel but we didn't find it a problem. All in all, 10 out of 10 and we will return next year.

Great views across Palma Bay

Posted Jul 1, 2014
Pros: Adults only. I come on holiday for a quiet time and the minimum guest age is 17, so there are no young children running screaming round the pool.
Fourth or fifth year I've stayed at this hotel and I continue to go back! Located at the western end of Can Pastilla, the Marina Luz has excellent views across Palma Bay. The staff are friendly and the Restaurant serves good food. The breakfast buffet is particularly good. I usually go for 'Half Board'.

Nice hotel

Pros: Location and staff.
Cons: WiFi is terrible - beds are not so good.
Location: Perfect location Palma close by and beaches around the corner.
The hotel is close by the airport. Staff speaks several languages English, German etc etc. Beautiful view of see and good restaurant. But the internet WiFi is terrible most of the time it does not work! The beds are very hard and you feel the iron under them! Price is ok.

The staff were the best. So welcoming cheerful and helpful. The hotel room was very comfortable with excellent sea view. The food was first class. Both the buffet breakfast and buffet dinner beautiful with a wide variety of choice. We had a great stay.

Pleasantly surprised

I was not expecting much from this hotel but I was surprised at how nice it was in both decor and ambiance. There are good walking/bike paths right outside the hotel and a small beach a 5 minute walk away. The buffet style food included with half board was good as well with the lamb chops and cabbage rolls being my favorite.

We've stayed in the Marina group of hotels in Mallorca a number of times before, and have been disappointed that some have become 'All-Inclusive' and appear to be targeting a different social group than previous visits. Fortunately, the Marina Luz has veered the opposite way, offering an 'Adults Only' stay which gives the hotel a nicer feel. The location is great, adjacent to a more residential area, which means no loud nightclubs spilling into the street in the early hours. The room mostly offer sea views and are very clean and well fitted. Not sure about the 'Love-Kits' in the room which offer vibrators and a host of other adult toys. But overall, a great place to stay, only spoiled by one young female member of restaurant staff, who seemed to go that extra mile to do exactly the opposite of what you wanted. Shame. Otherwise highly recommended.

Great hotel for a relaxing break for couples.

The location of the hotel was great. It was a short walk from the little town and the beaches. As such, it is a quiet location. It was also very close to the local bus routes. So we made it into Palma one day on a bus; journey was about 30 minutes. Buses are regular and cheap - abour 2 Euros each way per person. The hotel had entertainment on the weekend nights which was good. But if you want a quiet room don't take a pool view/sea view as you are directly above the entertainment. Although it doesn't go on too late! Overall, the staff were very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was great - excellent selections each morning. The evenming meals were also of a good standard; though we preferred to eat out most evenings in the local town. The choice of restaurants is good and prices reasonable; depending on your choice, 13-25 Euros for a main course. All in all, I would go back to this hotel again.

Not bad at all but not brilliant

Pros: we were able to upgrade to a suite for E14 pppn which was worth it
Cons: Mini bar, breakfast , cold pool
Location: great for getting from the airport and great for getting to Puro beach
The hotel is nice and clean with good staff but the reason I would not recommend it is- -It is overpriced when compared with similar hotels in the area -the photos are well done and make the outside areas look nicer than they are -the pool is small and was cold ( unheated ) when we went there at the end of June 2013 -the bay it overlooks is a lot less picturesque than the main bay in Can Pastilla -If you are unlucky and get a non sea view it is a direct view onto buildings -the breakfast was average- the OJ was more like squash, no croissants, limited fresh fruit, coffee from an automatic machine rather than a nice espresso. Not really what I would associate with being 4 star -mini bar- after a night out and very thirsty am- was totally empty !! and no complimentary bottles of water in the room despite it being a suite I stayed in nearby Sunprime Waterfront Hotel in Sept 2012 and would return there instead of this one but if that is full it's still a pretty nice hotel at the Marina Luz and it's very close to Puro Beach !!

Very good 4 star hotel

Very clean hotel with friendly staff. Only criticism the decking around the pool area not the best idea as creaks when walked on and therefore disturbs guests. Some of the crockery was chipped but that's a very minor point. Would definitely return for a short break due to the close proximity of the hotel to the airport.
