Mallow Vacations

Mallow is a popular place for visitors to Cork. It is part of bustling metropolis that is home to 190,000 inhabitants. Mallow is about 10 miles (16 kilometers) from Cork’s heart. If you are flying in, Mallow is about 20 miles (32 kilometers) away from Cork Airport.

Many of Cork’s attractions can be found within easy reach of Mallow, making it a popular place to stay or visit on a day trip. The Mallow Golf Course and the Annes Grove Gardens are amongst the popular places to discover here. Two other popular spots within a short distance of Mallow are Donkey Sanctuary and Ballyhooly Castle.

Blarney Stone, one of the most visited sights in the country is located 15 miles (24 kilometers) to the south.

Be sure to visit some of the nearby museums and galleries, which help make the area such a rewarding holiday destination. Discover the museums and collections in Kilmallock Museum in Limerick, the Cork Vision Centre and the Cork Public Museum. Experience one or two of the thrilling live performances at the Friars Gate Theatre in Limerick, the Opera House at Emmet Place and the Everyman Palace Theatre. There are a number of interesting galleries to visit near here. In particular, don’t miss the Crawford Art Gallery, Lavit Gallery and Glucksman Gallery.

If the weather is good, do what the locals do and make the most of the local natural destinations. There are some nice urban parks, so take a picnic blanket to Fitzgerald Park.

If you have time in and around Mallow, treat yourself with a visit to Blarney Castle in Blarney, the University College Cork and the Bells of Shandon. Admire some of the sacred places such as the St. Anne's Shandon Church. Breathe in the atmosphere and get an appreciation of the impotence of faith in Mallow.

When it’s time to scratch that golf itch, head to the Lee Valley Golf & Country Club. Grab your lucky putter and hit the fairways.

Browse the boutiques and purchase some original souvenirs in some of the nearby malls and markets such as the Blarney Woolen Mills in Blarney, the Ballincollig Shopping Centre and English Market.

Spend an afternoon with fellow sports fans at Turners Cross, cheering on local legends, the Cork City F.C.. On weekends the stadium is filled with red and green, as crowds flock together to cheer on their home-grown heroes.
