Good base for exploring Gozo.Posted Oct 25, 2013
Downtown Hotel is based a convenient short walk (5 minutes) from the centre of Victoria and just a few minutes more to the Arriva central bus station, which is perfect for getting around Gozo (just €2.60 for a day pass). Basic but clean, fine for a short stay however in hindsight, we would have perhaps stayed at one of the coastal resorts (Masalforn was lovely) as Victoria was very quiet in the evenings.

Nice place to stayPosted Sep 6, 2013
Pros: Balcony view and early check in. Room was good size and good location. Great Wireless access was very good.
Cons: Not really an improvement required. i just found that the cafe area was a little dim with no natural light, but that's really about it.
Location: Close to Bus depot and the Citidel was great. Can get anywhere from the bus. Taxi from Mgarr was €18 but I found out later it should have been €13
I stayed mid week so I got fairly good rates for 2 nights. Room was good size, had a great view from the balcony. Elevator access and complimentary breakfast was pretty good. It's about 5 mins from the buss depot. I arrived early and checked me in to my room early and that was really good. Had great wireless Internet access. Found it to be good value for money and I would recommend it.

Ideal base for exploring Gozo.Posted Jun 1, 2013
Pros: The hotel is comparatively modern, clean and tidy and a short walk to the town centre
Cons: Wifi available in hotel for web browsing but neither of us could access e-mail ( most local bars had free wifi which we could use for e-mail instead)
Location: About ten minutes walk to citadel, old town, local bars and cafes/ restaurants. Victoria is a small place, easily explored in a short period of time.
We used this hotel as a base for two nights while exploring Gozo by hire car, as part of a longer visit to Malta. The hotel is comparatively modern, and provides an adequate level of B&B accommodation. The hotel was fine for this, but it's not a resort and not somewhere I would spend time in expecting to be entertained or indulged. The facilities are clean and tidy, staff friendly and the breakfast was sufficient - cereals, fruit 'juice', and a limited choice of hot or continental style breakfast in a cafe/restaurant linked to the hotel. We did not visit the swimming pool. There is also a bar and bowling alley underneath the hotel which appeared popular with local people. We were not disturbed by noise from this, although on the second night there was a noisy exchange in the street between a couple who may well have come from this bar (it's the only place within 500 metres) We are both physically active and could easily walk the ten or so minutes slightly uphill to visit the citadel, old town and the few local bars and restaurants. Victoria is a small town, and accommodation choice is limited. Gozo is small enough to visit the main sites easily by car in a couple of days; ancient temples, churches, main towns, beaches and the Azure window at Dwerja.(We went to the Blue Lagoon and Comino from Malta rather than Gozo) There are very limited beach options on Gozo, and often the access to the sea is from rocks - it's not a place for a lazy 'lie in the sun' holiday.

Gozo Victoria HotelPosted Apr 21, 2013 on Hotels.com
This was my second time staying at the Downtown. It is located centrally in Gozo and is only a short walk to the city centre including bus terminal and shopping area. The hotel is noisy as the floors are furnished with tiles and you can hear everyone coming and going - particularly on the weekends when the Maltese visit and they speak WAY too loudly and have no respect for other hotel patrons. Although this is not a fault of the hotel administration per se, but it would be better for other non-Maltese patrons if they were located to their own floor. They are gone on Sunday so the main part of the week is fairly quiet. The breakfast is very basic and is the same each and every day. This is okay if you are staying for a few days - it can get a little boring if you stay more than 2-3 days. The hotel is very clean and the bathroom is well accomodated. There is a balcony too and the country views are lovely. You do not get many hotel amenities - basically its a combo bath/shampoo gel on offer. The TV is the old style tube TV. Overall, its a budget hotel at a budget price - you get what you pay for - nothing more and nothing less. Staff are helpful but only greet you if you speak to them first. Would I consider staying there again - yes, but will compare with other similar hotels in the area first.

Helpful StaffPosted Feb 3, 2013
The hotel is a short walk from the main bus station on the island, however the footpaths on the direct route are rather narrow if you are dragging luggage. Despite it being opposite some secondary schools and a sports centre we heard no noise. The room was a reasonable size. The hotel itself looks more modern and tidy than the surrounding area. The staff were very helpful; when my traveling companion lost their iPhone she contacted the taxi driver we had used and she brought it back for them (it had fallen out in the taxi luckily, not on a previous bus or boat journey). This prevented our holiday from becoming a disaster.

Just okay.Posted Dec 12, 2012
Pros: The key card is used for the elevator as well as the room and provides a sense of security though one wonders why it is necessary.
Cons: It seemed vero out-of-the-way and ordinary.
Location: The location was off the main street and opposite a school which was not terrible, bot not beautiful either.
The hotel was just okay. I made a one night reservation to be in Victoria (Rabat) because I did not know the island of Gozo. My second night was at a far superior hotel for very little extra money. I would have spent two nights at the more luxurious hotel had I known. It's not a bad hotel, but it is rather ordinary.

Wake up but don't smell the coffeePosted Sep 21, 2012
Centrally placed, comfortable with added bonus of rooftop swimming pool the Downtown Hotel was just right for exploring Gozo. If any complaint (and this would apply to many hotels - no proper coffee at breakfast)
