For the price it's a reasonable 3 star hotel.Posted Apr 10, 2015
Pros: The front desk staff were excellent.
Cons: The hotel needs a major refurbishment if they want to be a 4 star hotel.
Location: The location was right on the beach, but I had a view of another building which was disappointing. Plenty of places to eat and drink nearby.
I booked this Hotel using the expedia deep discount surprise booking tool. This is the first and last time I will ever do that again. I asked for a 4 star hotel but I was served a 3 star for 3 star price so it really wasn't that good of a deal. Upon entering the hotel I was very disappointed. I read reviews online that said the hotel was very dated and in need of major refurbishment. This I can confirm. The lobby was clean, but very 70s style and dark. The front desk staff were excellent. Throughout my stay I was surprised at how attentive they were. The service they provided rivaled any 4 star property in Malta. I asked about late check out the next day and I was given a firm yes. Even if they said no, I just hate when hotels can't be straight with you. To extend my stay from 12pm to 6pm was a very modest increase. My room was clean and well made up. The bathroom had a bit of unpleasant urine smelling odour but it was very mild as I have a very sensitive nose. The two double beds were nice, but one had a bit of an oily stain on one of the pullovers. The balcony was nice, but the chairs were dirty and in need of a little rinse prior to anyone checking in. The wifi was not the best but almost every cafe and restaurant in the area has free wifi so one coffee and you can use their wifi for the rest of your trip. I would not recommend this hotel because I felt it should not be advertised as a 4 star as it is a 3 star.

Nice hotel but small roomsPosted Mar 16, 2015
Pros: Proximity to the centre and the cleaning staff
Cons: I am not sure as it is all fixed.
Location: The location was fine you walk out of the hotel and down the street and you are on the main seaside area with all its facilities.
When we arrived the hotel was very full and the staff not too friendly. We arrived to our room and this was very small not unlike a travel lodge. We felt that we had been given one of the worst rooms next to the lift shaft. Tip for any future residents you should check out your room and complain if necessary. the pool downstairs was tiny and couldn't really be called a pool. Other wise hotel OK

Good valuePosted Feb 4, 2015 on Hotels.com
Hotel in a good location. A little dated, room could do with some upgrading but still great value for the price. Breakfast was good value for the price too. I would stay here again.

Hôtel bien placé à Sliema. Seul réel avantage. Dans l'ensemble juste correct par rapport au tarif.

Worthy of 3 stars, but only justPosted Nov 25, 2014
Pros: The cheerful and helpful staff
Cons: Apart from the entrance hall, the whole building looks jaded and needs a major refurbishment.
Location: Sliema is vibrant area by the coast within easy reach of Valetta and bus routes to such as Gozo and Medina. Malta has a rich history which appeals.
Staff willing to help but sometimes let down by the condition of certain items, such as computers that often were not working and rules that turned off the air conditioning during the dates of our stay, despite high temperatures. But, overall, we had a pleasant stay.

Matla Park HotelPosted Nov 12, 2014 on Hotels.com
Booked for 4nights. First night was fine but on the second approximately 100 Teenagers booked in to the hotel for the weekend. The lobby was so fully you stuggled to get to the front door with out tripping and they that evening they partied until 5am. The excuse we got from the hotel was "We didn't expect them to be so loud". The pool area wasn't as clean as you would expect as there was a discarded plaster by the side of to the pool for 3 nights. The wood around the pool has at some stage got wet and was blown. There was mold on the bath room ceiling in the first room or the second which we got when we told them that we wanted to check out. We got an upgrade to a "superior room". The leather sofa was spilt. The area is pretty cental. The reception for the hotel is grand but that is where the 4* stops. Would recommend this hotel to anyone
