Old place in need of a refurbishmentPosted Nov 28, 2013
Pros: Not Much
Cons: A full refurbishment. It was advertised as 4 star !! it was advertised with 4 restaurants ...there was only ONE open in our week stay. ..oh the bath.
Location: Well out of the main part of town..but acceptible..Would stay closer to Valetta next time. Would NOT come back to seashells.
I have previously filled out a not too complimentary review. The hotel is NOT 4 star as suggested..it might have been so some twenty years ago !! the rooms, restaurant etc are very tired and in need of an upgrade. Everything about the place was " cheap" ..we had an all inclusive holiday..but the wine was very cheap...the whiskey was of the lowest quality, the Internet was expensive and was so slow it was over before it started !! Etc etc Value for money ..it was NOT

very spacious suite room, but no kids clubPosted Oct 30, 2013
Great suite with separate bedroom. Good location, noisy until midnight. Breakfast good. No kids club or kids entertainment at all as not peak season, so felt a bit miss-sold, but still had great time.

Nice hotel, close to the beach but...Posted Oct 14, 2013
Pros: Close to all amenities, nice gift shop not overpriced. Friendly staff.
Cons: Mostly cosmetic stuff like cracked tiles and squeaky ceiling fans and the lifts tended to take a while to arrive on occasions.
Location: good location, easy to catch local and tour buses. Nice sunsets. Plenty of variety for eating out and good value if that's what you're after.
separated by a busy road. Two bars/restaurants over the road competed with each other most nights until late so if your room faces the road, I hope you don't want an early night! (for sleeping that is). The bars and restaurants are good, lots of choices etc. The cocktails in the main bar should be avoided, unless you want your pee to turn blue! (or red, or yellow) Breakfast was good, and the snack bar in the basement always had good cheap snacks all day, try the cheese cakes (savoury). Specially good for hangovers. Overall, we enjoyed staying at the Seashells, everything was very close to hand, and within staggering distance.

Fantastic servicePosted Sep 15, 2013 on Hotels.com
Great facilities. Got a suite and it's clean and spacious. Room furniture is a bit old and run down. Lots of free parking around hotel 24hr a day. Plenty of restaurants around. Bus stop right opposite hotel but buses is a bit hit and miss. Recommending to rent a car.

Reasonable hotel - close to beach and some shopsPosted Aug 23, 2013
Pros: The second breakfast area was a good idea, for those unable or unwilling to go for the unhealthy option ! Facilities were adequate for a family stay.
Cons: Bacon was terrible - please provide leaner cuts or provide cooked ham instead.. much healthier Lift service - not sure why but didn't seem efficient.
Location: Water sports/boats for hire, cross the street with good prices.. bus stop serving all routes outside the front door. Shops and restaurants close by.
We stayed 3 nights, Saturday through to the Monday - Large Family Suite room, great sea view.. unfortunately (for us with young family) right across the street from the Entertainment area.. which mean't we didn't get to sleep much before 1am on the Saturday. We stayed B&B which was adequate, there were two breakfast areas - one closed at 10am (on the dot) the other was open 'til 11 serving "healthy" breakfast.. found the catering staff helpful but a little keen to close down the service ! Paid for evening meal once, to be honest we had better value eating out on another night, at a restaurant in Gozo serving freshly caught and cooked fish.. Lifts were a little dubious - in that, there were 6 or even 8 of them, but we still seemed to have to queue for 5 minutes or more before one would arrive on the 4th floor to take us down for breakfast.. did the stairs a couple of times.. perhaps that's a positive note ! Hotel staff were friendly and helpful during our stay - cannot fault them in anyway, they were attentive at the front desk and keen to help with any issues we had.

Needs refurbishmentPosted Aug 20, 2013
Pros: The balcony with seaview
Cons: Rooms need total refurbishing,, no kettle, sliding door in balcony is very hard to open.
Positive side of the hotel. .nice seaview .hot foods served on breakfast Negative side of the hotel .rooms need refurbishing, fan not working, we can see the electrical wirings,no available keetle inside the room, fridge not working.picture in the internet is very deceiving as it looks nice but when we arrive at our room,we are very dissapointed because it looks old. Very noisy during nght time because theres a bar in front of the hotel and the sound is too loud.

Dear Julie - we thank you especially for your positive comments concerning the view and the hot breakfast. It is not required of a 4 star hotel in Malta to offer tea and coffee making facilities - we do however offer this at a small charge. We hope you had the opportunity to discover our island

Perhaps this Hotel is for the young??Posted Jul 7, 2013
Pros: Reception desk.
Cons: Loud music opposite.
Fabulous recption area, with friendly staff. No top sheets on the beds (in all rooms). Only news programs on the TV. Room service of tea and toast came with no butter, and just HOT BREAD! Poor food in the restuarant at very high prices. Sea view rooms got non stop very loud music from the bar opposite.
Jan 5, 2013 by Gunner
Dear Doug and Patricia, thank you for your comments concerning the reception and the staff. There are three dinner possibilities in our hotel, one serving international food, one serving Maltese and a third serving a BBQ al Fresco. There is at least one movie channel in English, besides all the local channels showing films only in English. Serving Toast without buffet is a no, no - this was most certainly an oversight - we take this opportunity to apologize.

Very impressed, excelent locationPosted Jun 6, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had an excellent 9 night stay at the Seashells. The location is excellent, close to bars, resturants, bus stop across the road, Bugibba bus station a few minutes walk. Did trips to Mellinhi beach, Popeye village, Valletta, St. Julian's, Selema, Mdina, all on local busses and so cheap €2.60 adult and child 50c for day ticket. Bus drivers helpful and speak english as do the majority of people. We stayed B&B so can't comment on food. Plentiful spread for breakfast and if you missed breakfast you could get it at the snack bar between 10 and 11am. Not as much choice but handy if you've had a late one. Rooms cleaned every day, staff friendly. Pool fab and kids slide which my 9 year old really enjoyed. Some really nice resturants nearby. Small supermarket next door. Hair salon in hotel which we used and wasn't overpriced. Lifts were slow at times and wifi expensive at €2.50/hour but overall we had a great holiday and would stay at this hotel again if we go back to malta

Dear Helen - we are glad our hotel and island made a good impression on you - it seems like you did go a lot around. Indeed having bus stop in front of the hotel door and the island being 27km by 14km large is a plus and one would not waste any time. Next time you may want to spend more time in Valletta or even take a day trip to our sister island. We are also glad the kids enjoyed the pool area - the slide is indeed a plus for kids and those young at heart. We of course look forward to have you back.

Nice hotel, shame it;s in MaltaPosted Apr 5, 2013 on Hotels.com
We had a Suite and the room and view were lovely. However, in typical Maltese fashion when our bath plug and aircon were broken they were not fixed and are probably still broken. The Maltese don't look after anything and this is reflected in the state of the whole island. I would recommend NOT to go to Malta but if you do, this hotel has at least one nice suite and the staff are very friendly.
