“Spectacular views, clean, friendly, modest”
This hotel has probably the best views in all of Malta. Breakfast on the terrace overlooking the harbor is thrilling, and the breakfast itself is ample. Dinners are OK and also ample. The hotel could use sprucing up but perhaps keeping it oldish lets the prices stay low. It's family-run by friendly owners who speak English well. Rooms are small and spare, not places to spend time in, but you can spend time on the terrace. Air-conditioning costs just a few Euros extra and is worth paying for in summer. Major attractions, from the cathedral to the inter-city bus station, are about l0 minutes away or less, uphill on foot. This hotel isn't chic but it's affordable and you will never forget the views.
“Superb location & breathtaking view!”
My number-one priority with hotels is location. The British Hotel is just a 10-minute walk from the bus station -- where you can catch a bus to wherever you wish to go for about 50 cents -- and also catch the supurb Hop-on/hop-off bus (the red line covers southern route, and the blue line covers northern route). Take the RED! Shops and restaurants are just a block away, and you can spend hours exploring Valletta. Then at night you can watch the boat traffic on the Grand Harbor -- and see the historic "three cities" across the bay. Pay the extra money (about $15/day) for a view room. Skip the meager breakfast & head straight out to a bakery -- or grab an Italian pastry at the bus depot (this sounds horrid -- but the bus area is outoors & surrounded by views & beautiful buildings. Nice!

Valletta, Malta: Located on a narrow peninsula, little has changed since the Knights of St John built Valletta in the 16th century. It remains one of the worlds finest fortified cities and an architectural masterpiece, home to the majestic Grand Masters Palace, a magnificent cathedral, national museums and various sites interpreting the citys rich history. Dont miss the panorama of Grand Harbour from the ramparts. Busy by day, Valletta is quiet by night.
