Reasonable, basic hotel for a short stay

Posted Jul 2, 2014
Pros: Low price, easy parking.
Location: The Mammoth Lakes area is a great place to go in the summer when all the skiers have gone home. Mono Lake is a nice trip, about 20 miles away.
I stayed here on an overnight stop between Death Valley and Yosemite. The hotel was relatively easy to locate despite being on a frontage road, set some way down the side of the hill from the main road. Parking underneath the hotel was plentiful (albeit in a relatively quiet time of year) and there was a convenient elevator to reception. Received a friendly welcome at check-in. Room was OK although the walls are somewhat thin. The slightly ill-fitting door/lock made slamming the door necessary leading to an unnerving shaking of the entire wall. Facilities in the room were serviceable with the exception of a missing coffee machine (although a fully stocked tray of coffee etc.).

Don't go there

Pros: Nothing
Cons: Everything!!!
Location: Not much is nearby
There was mold on the hallway ceiling and in the bathroom. An awful smell permeated throughout the hotel! It was terrible!

Poor lighting, toilet and refrigerator ran at night making it hard to sleep. Poor room ventilation and could hear people coming and going from rooms. Continental breakfast poor. Ice maker did not work.

Bad hotel with very unprofessional staff

Hotel staff very unprofessional. Rooms don't have an ac, so I would strongly recommend in especially for trips in June or July.

Great find!

Pros: Central location, friendly and helpful staff, great breakfast. Large room, fridge, coffee machine etc. Fruit at the desk anytime. Large hot pool.
Cons: Underground parking - great in the snow, but a pain when you have a disabled person with you (there is a lift, but it's dark and dingy)
Location: Our plan to visit Yosemite brought us here - it's easily accessible. As we stayed an extra day, we visited Mono Lake, Lake Isabella etc.
Plucked Mammoth Lakes and this motel based on proximity to Yosemite. Mammoth turned out to have some interesting places to visit close by and the motel, though primarily intended for winter sports enthusiasts, served us well. Stayed 2 nights instead of 1.

Overall Experience

Posted May 30, 2014
Complimentary breakfast was very good. Hotel staff and especially Raj the manager were more than helpful, courteous, knowledgeable and friendly. They all get a thumbs-up. Pool/Jacuzzi was clean and well maintained. Room was quite comfortable. Refrigerator in the room was very convenient. Final rating: Very Good. Would recommend and would visit again.

No frills.

Staff was very polite. Room was sparse and outdated. No A/C! I was there during warm weather. There was a cheap fan in the room. Good enough of you just need a place to crash for one night.
