“Great hotel & experience”

The previous 2 times we had been to Nicaragua we stayed across from the airport at the Best Western La Mercedes. When I discovered this hotel (Camino Real) was about the same price and only a few minutes from the airport decided to try it. SOOOOOOOOOO glad we did. The difference is night and day. The rooms are bright, clean, furnished nicely. My remembrance of the Best Western is dark rooms, small TV's with mainly Spanish channels,(Camino Real has about 100 channels and several English) .Everything at La Mercdes is spread out, many rooms and the food not so great. We had the lunch & breakfast buffets and the food was very good on both at Camino Real. The lobby and everything about the hotel is so much nicer than Best Western. I will definitely stay here if possible when we return.

Area recommendations

This hotel is only 5 minutes from the airport and has a free shuttle. It doesn't have any thing around is as far as food or shopping, but for a $2 taxi ride you can go to a shopping center that has a food court and grocery store.

“Great hotel and service.”

Great food and service. Beautiful gardens. Clean and well equiped. I needed another table and chair and they quickly provided. The room was very nice and well equiped. The limosine service was excellent. The waitors were friendly and very capable.

“There is no better hotel for an early departure / late arrival!”

Quick check-in on pre-paid reservation. Complimentary drinks were excellent and a welcome bonus. Room was nicer than anticipated for its airport location. AC was quiet and effective. Nice bath. Pool was all ours and a nice respite after a day of sightseeing in Granada and Masaya. Dinner in the bar was fine and came with a 2 for 1 happy hour special. Service was very good, especially in the bar and the free shuttle to the airport. You really can't do better in the vicinity and we would recommend regardless of your plans in Managua.

“Great airport hotel”

A minute away from the airport, this a superb choice if you need to catch an early flight. Very comfortable rooms, beautiful setting with lovely surrounding gardens, and undoubtedly the best breakfast buffet in town (or any town for that matter).

“Two minutes from the airport with great rooms and friendly service.”

I was met at the airport by the hotel shuttle when I arrived. They took me through a special diplomat liine to expedite customs and entry into the country. The hotel staff was friendly and accomodating. The room was large and comfortable. Great value! I highly recommend the Hotel Camino Real Managua.

Area recommendations

Go visit Granada, a forty minute drive from Managua. A clean beautiful town with a lot of character.

“Great choice for hotel close to airport”

Hotel was great. Very good food, clean rooms. Beautiful pool. Good service at pool side. Front desk staff greeted us like we were a minor inconvenience to him at check in. We didn't feel welcome however he provided what we needed. Fabulous location to airport, good shuttle service.

“Not impressed”

1) Airport shuttle missed us and I had to call twice to make sure they would be there to pick us up..I'm glad the hotel is only a 3 minute drive from the airport. 2) Female hotel receptionist acted as if I was sneaking another patron in my room when I had reserved it online with a free 2 person breakfast voucher..calling me immediately as soon as I arrived with my boyfriend from the airport impolitely requesting me to check him in after I had already checked myself in the hotel 3) I thought their would be tubs in order to take a relaxing bath and inquired later at the front desk and again the female receptionist responded in a surprised manner saying there was no such thing at the hotel 4) The restaurant had no hours posted in front and their hours were also not anywhere in the room (not in or menu or nonexistent room service order tab). We went out late to meet up with a few friends and came back only exhausted with only a couple drinks to put us sound asleep...woke at 11 pm and called to inquire about breakfast...closed and apparently no way to still get it. We went to confirm at the front desk and were literally told it was completely our fault that we missed and there was no way we could still get breakfast or use our free breakfast vouchers...I politely and reasonably asked if we could at least get something simple ie. just bread and fruit and they had reluctantly agreed with a poor hospitality attitude that we should have known.

Area recommendations

If you want to stay close to the airport which is a little farther outside of the center of Managua I highly recommend Best Western aka Las Mercedes which is right in front. If you're looking to stay close to commercial centers I recommend Hotel Holiday Inn, Intercontinental or even Hotel Mansion Teodolinda or Crown Plaza in the Plaza Inter neighborhood.
