Good Place to Stay Before or After Flying

Pros: The convenience, the friendliness of the staff, the breakfast.
Cons: More times for the shuttle to and from the airport.
Location: We did not spend anytime in the neighborhood. It is next to some kind of convention center, I believe. It is about 15 minutes drive to the airport.
We stayed here twice--once after flying into Managua and again before flying out of Managua. Though we had to pay a cab to go from the airport to the hotel because of the time of our arrival, we were able to use the free shuttle to go to the airport the next morning to rent a car. Also, we were able to take the 5:00am shuttle to the airport to catch our 8:40am flight home. There was a shuttle at 5:00 and at 7:00. If there'd been one at 6:00 we would probably have taken that instead since 5:00 was a little early. The staff is very nice and helpful. The evening clerk spoke very good English. The free breakfast was very good and quite extensive. We were not able to take advantage of it on our 2nd stay because of our early departure time, but they did have coffee out and we were able to grab a couple of pastries from the kitchen. They have a small pool with a bar and hot water in the bathroom. (This is an uncommon amenity in Nicaragua.)

Pros: The staff, the breakfast, the convenient ATM, the free ice and water.
Cons: It would be nice to have evening shuttle service from the airport. More blankets should be provided or the AC should not be next to the bed.
Location: The location is pretty convenient to the airport and to a main highway. We only stayed there one night so we did not explore the neighborhood.
We were under the impression there would be a shuttle to take us to the hotel from the airport. We got in at 9:00pm. After going through customs, we looked around for a shuttle for The Hex, but didn't see one. A man with a sign that said, "shuttle service" told us to come with him. It turned out it was just a taxi service. He wanted $20 to take us to the hotel. We talked him down to $10. Upon arriving at the hotel, the staff was great--very helpful and friendly and spoke English pretty well. We took the elevator to our room on the 3rd floor. It was pretty small--very little room on the bedside table. The TV had tons of channels. We couldn't get the internet in our room, but were able to in the lobby. The biggest problem with the room was the proximity of the AC to one of the beds. The person in that bed was very cold as a result and there were no heavy covers to keep warm. The view from the room was nothing special. The free breakfast was very good--a lot of variety. Our room key quit working in the morning, but the maid was very nice to let us in our room a couple of times. There was free ice and free pure water and also an ATM and computers on the main floor. We were able to get a free shuttle ride to the airport in the morning to rent a car. The posted shuttle schedule only listed morning and early afternoon times, so I don't think they have a shuttle in the evening. I would stay there again, but would ask for extra blankets.

Perfect location, clean rooms, great pool + food

Location: Mall, many other stores, cinema and even a supermarket.
Booked through Expedia. Nice, modern and clean place, in front of a Mall with dozens of stores, restaurants and even a supermarket. Safe, quiet and with breakfast buffet included. Professional staff and great swimming pool. Not luxurious but modern. Recommended.

Better option for a layover

Normally we stay right at the airport at the nearest hotel but we decided to try something new. At $40 less and with a great hot shower and the mall next door this is our new option as it has a shuttle service. Looking forward to staying here again.

No Shuttle from Airport

Cons: Expedia and the Hotel need to make sure that contact information via email or phone is totally clear and easily reachable.
Location: Travellers need information on shuttles from the airport.
I tried numerous times to contact this Hotel prior to our arrival without success, to make sure the shuttle would pick us up at the airport. Contact info from the Expedia site was not helpful. When we finally arrived in Managua after 14 hours travel the hotel informed us that we would have to wait 2 hours for the shuttle to arrive at the airport to bring us to the hotel. Therefore we never stayed at that hotel. We walked across the street to another hotel. This reservation via Expedia was entirely unsatisfactory.
