Old hotel with average rooms & poor staff

Posted Mar 30, 2014
Pros: Nice large grounds. The fish was very good on the lunch menu.
Cons: Refurbishing all the rooms and a staff that speaks English. Only one of the restaurants and bar was open for food service. Breakfast buffet was ofay
Location: Location is very far from the town of Manaus. The only thing nearby is the beach front for walking.
When we arrived at the hotel they checked us into a very small standard twin bedded room even though our reservation was for a Deluxe king bed room. We returned to the front desk and complained, but they insisted the standard room was a deluxe room and said they only had twin bedded rooms available. Since it was late we spent one night in the room and the next morning we went to the front desk, showed them a picture of the Deluxe room and insisted that we be moved. We were moved to a better room, but still not the room we booked. Also, the staff speaks very limited English and it took a long time for us to get checked in. I would not recommend anyone stay at this hotel.

Could use some updating

Large rooms , clean , nice wood work but could use some updating. Food is mediocre. Cool to have zoo on site and convenient for taking Amazon Clipper tour

Nice and huge hotel!

Posted Mar 5, 2014
Pros: Spacious, large, free breakfast and internet.
Cons: The staff at the cafe spoke no English and didn't even try to understand us, they were kind of rude.
Location: Close to the beach
The hotel is close to the beach in Manaus and is very large! The hotel staff at the front desk spoke English and even gave us free wi-fi for our rooms. They offer free breakfast which was pretty good. Eggs and assorted breads mostly. The pool is nice and they have a restaurant for dinner right next to it which had pretty good food! Overall I was satisfied with the hotel!

Reasonably nice hotel with a good breakfast. Best used as a stopping off point to the rest of the amazon.

Hotel facilities

When you enter ambience is good. This is the hub for amazon and people from all over the world come to visit. Most of the staff cannot speak or understand a word of English making communication very difficult. Food is sub-standard. Morning breakfast buffet is chaotic, tables left dirty and unattended with shortage of staff, glasses and spoons. There is a stale and unpleasant smell in the hotel. The room is extremely cold with no proper temperature regulation. Beds are hard with linen and bedding smelling and full of holes. The only advantage with this hotel is that it is very close to the port where all boat tours start.

Imagine a Disney resort managed by cheapskate

Posted Jul 24, 2013
Clearly, this place was fantastic in its day. No doubt catering to the rich and famous. Unfortunately today its suffering from a clear lack in management, staffing, and funding. It can best be described as a resort built by Disney, but left in the hands of some cheapskate management company that doesn't want to pay for a full staff, accomplishes only the minimums in repairs and upkeep, and is just leaving the place to slowly die. Unfortunately, I don't know that there are many comparable alternatives around the area and my room was in fact clean so I would stay there again, but only if I couldn't find another place with a little research.

Close to Amazon rainforest

Posted Jul 23, 2013 on Hotels.com
It's a huge hotel, in a very beatiful location . The hotel itself is outdated . It was built on 1970’ and many parts of it are now closed or under renovation . The breakfast (free) is good, with some local food . Many entertainment activities, including a mini-zoo inside the hotel and big pools . Amazonian people are very friendly . It’s a good choice for those who want to experience the wildlife of the Amazon rainforest .

The best hotel property

Posted Jul 19, 2013
Pros: Everything
Cons: Our room was a bit outdated, may have been waiting for renovation.
Location: Right on the river, having a main transportation dock
This is about our fourth time at this hotel. Can't beat this hotel with its waterfall wave pool, excellent breakfast buffet, great food, it's own zoo, wonderful grounds, activities and staff - a true gem!

AN ALLURING JEWEL IN THE AMAZONIAN FOREST

Posted May 22, 2013
Pros: Location, hotel grounds (including zoo and fish and turtle ponds), architecture and friendly and helpful staff.
Cons: The new discos that have been built within the grounds of the hotel.
Location: Perfect location to visit the new and old sections of Manaus and its surroundings and a start-and-finish point for any excursion to the Amazon forest.
CHARMING COLONIAL STYLE HOTEL BY THE AMAZON RIVER WITH ALL MODERN CONVENIENCES AND SERVICES. BREAKFAST BUFFET IS FABULOUS AND WILL INTRODUCE YOU TO THE EXOTIC FOODS OF AMAZONIA.
