“Convenient for airport travelers”
about 10 minute free shuttle ride. Exterior of property not impressive but it's better inside. Our room was nice and its restaurant is pretty good.Free Wireless internet service in lobby and in some rooms but not ours.
“Maybe...”
We stayed twice during the same week. Supposedly both times in the same accomodation. First time - very small room, double bed pushed against the wall, a tv that didn't work, hair in bathroom sink, toothpaste on the counter and dirty cups in the room. Three days later large, clean room, clean bathroom, and working tv. Both times standard, not economy room....very different impressions. Our children shared a second room with twin beds similar good standard during both stays.
“Would not return”
Hotel was old and dearly in need of upkeep and update. Rooms were not as clean as expected. Very dingy and dark. Staff was very good however and this was a redeeming factor.
“Convenient location”
We stay there because the location is very convenient for us, and they have airport shuttle service. They're geared to guests staying one night only, and we usually stay for a week; we learned quickly to get our room key reprogrammed daily in order to get into the room. I would rate amenities as "adequate."
“Good location near Manchester Airport”
Small rooms
“Room quality is not equal price level”
The Chinese lady at the receiption is great and helpful. Airport shuttle bus is the best service among other services.
“good location for airport”
We chose the Britannia mainly due to the fact that it had an airport shuttle. The location was good and shuttle was reliable. The overall comfort and cleanliness was ok.
“Please upgrade me!”
I last stayed in this hotel in 2000 and was surprised to find that 10 years later not much had changed. After a rest following 26 hours traveling from Australia I convinced myself that given the price I paid perhaps my expectations were initially too high. I generally used the hotel as just somewhere to sleep and for that requirement it met my needs. The room was satisfactory but the carpets were worn and old and needed replacement or at least a deep clean. I found the bed quite comfortable and the bedding clean (and changed regularly). The bathroom was ok but the shower was quite weak and the heated towel rail didn't work. Windows were filthy (from outside) and the furniture was dated and in need of replacement. The TV was ancient and temperamental - analogue with a basic digi box; come on! WiFi connectivity was available in the room which was useful. The car park was cramped and at times difficult to park in and was in a filthy state (used condoms and excessive bird-poo were noticeable features!). Staff were friendly and helpful. The breakfast at 7GBP was as expected but over-priced. Overall, this conveniently located hotel is fine but I was on my own for this visit and don't think I could stay for more than a couple of nights with my family. I used to live in Manchester and this hotel once a good reputation as a modern place to stay (when it was the Post House) however, to bring it up to meet the expectations of the modern traveller it needs a huge overhaul.
“normal, comfortable with a normal restaurant”
The hotel is quite standard but the price is low. It is a clean hotel. The people in the main desk is nice and they help you about everything. The restaurant is quite poor. They never replied the phone.
“Good location, free airport shuttle”
We've stayed at this hotel 3 times, as it's the most convenient location for visiting our family, and has an airport shuttle. The rooms are OK; service is so-so. We've learned to stop at the desk daily to have our room keys reprogrammed, as they are otherwise set to expire, even though the hotel knows how many days we're staying (probably because they cater to single-night guests wanting to be near the airport). It took multiple calls to get someone to replace a missing light bulb & an electric kettle that didn't work. The rooms are comfortable & we now know what to expect, so we'll probably stay there again.
