“convenient in Manchester downtown”
The location is very convenient to the center city of Manchester. Close to the Tourist information office, bus and light rail center, and Arnedale Center. I was able to walk to or take light rail to all the places I wanted. My only concern was the multiple steps, which most people wouldn't notice but, with my arthritis was problematic. So for anyone with mobility issues, you may need to inquire further. To be fair, few hotels in the UK in the ten other towns, and cities i stayed in, were all that accessable. Plan to tackle some stairs or contact the hotel for suggestions
“not impressed”
The services were not prompt. The hot water was not running in my room. complained about it and it wasn't attended to.
“Too HOT for Comfort”
Location was fantastic! I was only partially satisfied with the quality of the hotel staff and management, check-in was not smoooth. Having requested an early check-in, I was told that was not available, and I needed to return at 2pm, then at 2pm, I was told to return at 4pm, as they were busy the night before, at that time I refused to come back again, and surprise, my room was suddenly available. Room itslef was quite small, but sufficient for a single traveler. The bigger problem was the temperature! The hallways were significantly cooler than in the room, when I complained, I was provided a fan. I suffered through the night, but again complained the following day, as there would be no way I could stay a full week in that environment, at that time I was moved to a different room on a different floor, room was much better, but still not comfortable to my satisfaction, however I was told there was no other rooms to move to, and there was nothing further they could do - As well was not given the opportunity to speak to the manager in person. Bottom line - Too HOT for comfort, and what appears to be careless management to busy take time to deal with guests in person.
“Best location!”
I really reccomend this hotel! Best location - close to the coach station, close to Piccadily station, to the main attraction! Great!
“Wonderful hotel”
Wonderful hotel. Had good time. Clean and ordered
“One of the best”
Excellent choice for a relaxing holiday or business trip
“Great Location!”
The hotel met most of our needs, Parking was around the corner, but EXPENSIVE! We stayed for two nights and three days, the parking was more than expected... about 40GBP, even with the hotel discount. It was interesting being in a room with no windows. There was a pully that openned a vent for you. Well-stocked coffee making station. The location is superb! If you like city exploring and want to be near night life then you will get the best experience with this location. A block away from China Town, Bus stations and the Shopping Centre, however, eating at the Wasabi in China-Town was a miss because they served old sashimi and still charged for it! However, the Thai food was great. Only not so great thing is that they wouldn't let us have late check-out, I guess understandable if they really were fully booked for the next night. They have secure entrance after 11p, so they follow suit on security measures. Beware of all the bums...you are still in the city centre. Also, Expedia had a great deal considering the actual price at the hotel.
“Clean and tidy but Loud and Stuffy at night”
This hotel was clean and tidy and the staff was very helpful and friendly. The food was good. The down side, was the noise from the night club at night. There is no air conditioning and had to open a window at night because the room was a bit stuffy. The street noise was also loud all night long. Needed ear plugs to sleep well.
“good location - nothing more”
This is a run-down hotel that markets itself as "historic." The only thing that it had going for it was the central location. The furnishings in the room were run down, stained and/or broken. The tub didn't drain, the tv didn't work, the toilet worked only with effort. This was true even after I upgraded at some expense to a "suite" which was only a bigger mess. The service at the desk and from the restaurant (esp. Jenny's) was lackluster as well. I do not recommend this hotel. For my fellow American travellers, this would be equivalent to one of those road-side dive hotels you would find in the middle of no-where US where the room has a tilted, dimly lit lamp, stained tables and carpet and a cracked mirror. I would rate a US Motel 6 better.
“not impressed”
the level of the room should be better , my room was too small and too far of the lift . thank you
