Hotel minutes from Manchester & Airport

Posted Jun 1, 2015
Pros: The room and washroom facility was very nice. lobby and floor amenities were among the best in this price range.
Cons: Include basic breakfast and have lower cost shuttle to airport.
Location: Close to other community facilities, pubs & restaurants.
Comfortable, clean, thoughtful - especially the complimentary Tea & specialty coffees. Very pleasant facility and grounds. Only drawback would be that it is on a flight path to Manchester airport. Window glazing cuts most ambient outside noise. Staff directed us to airport well.

Great staff

Posted May 26, 2015
Cons: The beds were not too comfortable
Location: Great location for accessing Manchester, Stockport, Manchester Airport and the Motorway system
We were having to move into DeVere as our 'current' hotel was full for one night. The welcome that we received from the receptionist, Charlotte and the assistance that we had from Claire in housekeeping was just phenomenal. The experience at DeVere was so good that, although I had booked and prepaid for a further eight nights at the 'other' hotel, we decided to stay at DeVere for four of those nights as we felt so comfortable but disappointed as the DeVere was full for one night.

Disappointing

Posted Mar 21, 2015
Pros: The availability of drinks, fruit and biscuits in the lounge area. Free newspapers. The breakfast staff.
Cons: The corridor carpets were very grubby and tired looking. Cleaning needs to be improved.
We booked this venue, opposite a Premier Inn that we have used on several occasions, because there was a special reduced B&B rate making it only slightly more expensive. We thought it would be a more pleasurable stay but it was not worth the extra money even at the reduced rate and definitely would not be at the normal full price. The bedroom was a strange shape so that only poor use could be made of the floor space with the double bed crammed in the narrowest area and only space for one bedside table. On arrival the receptionist was friendly but she had no record of our breakfast inclusive booking. She subsequently confirmed that breakfast was, indeed, included but failed to amend the hotel's records so that we had to explain to the breakfast team each morning. They were very efficient and helpful. The various receptionists ignored our comings and goings and we were not asked whether we had enjoyed our stay when we checked out. We would only use this hotel again if the Premier In were full.

Soulless, drab but functional.

Posted Mar 20, 2015
About as dull as ditchwater, the place is pretty dire on the design front as soon as you enter. A shame as it's a nice old building in part. The reception area is really dreary - fortunately the receptionist was way more charming. The bar is somewhat akin to a hospital waiting room and the lighting especially dire. Rooms are ok but again completely bland with cheap furniture, awful bathroom fittings and not particularly well noise insulated.

We're not a hotel ..

Posted Feb 23, 2015
We were told on arrival that that "this is not a hotel it is a conference centre with rooms" so at weekends its a bit like the Jack Nicholson shining movie but the staff were very pleasant. We got upgraded on arrival as I asked if we could be but the room was still pretty basic and the beds & pillows are a bit halls of residence. Breakfast was pretty good and overall the place was clean but don't arrive thinking your staying at a plush DeVere hotel as it isn't ..
