Good breakfast, pleasant & helpful staff, central location: all these offset the relatively confined space of the thoughtfully equipped rom.

“IDEAL FOR A SHORT VISIT”

OCTOBER IN ENGLAND ONLY PART OF THE HOTEL THAT WAS WARM WAS THE RECEPTION/LOUNGE AREA. ROOM WAS COLD AND BATHROOM WAS LIKE WALKING INTO A FREEZER. BATHROOM HAD NO EXTRACTOR. WE ARE USED TO AMERICAN HOTELS WITH FRIDGE/MICROWAVE/RADIO ALARM CLOCK THEY ONLY HAD COFFE MAKING FACILITIES AT THE MERCURE. BUT HOTEL STAFF WERE VERY FRIENDLY, FOR A BUSINESS CENTER GUESTS HAD NO ACCESS TO COMPUTER/PRINTER WHICH WE NEEDED TO CHECK IN ONLINE FOR OUR INTERNATIONAL FLIGHT BACK TO THE STATES. ALTHOUGH WIGAN IS NOT AN IDEAL LOCATION.

I enjoyed the hotel except for one staff member who was quite unfriendly. I didn't get her name but she talked down to me and made me feel unwelcome. I think she was a supervisor or manager. The rest of the staff were quite helpful and friendly. I would stay again but I would be more assertive in standing up for my rights as a person and patron.
