Mangia Tower (Torre del Mangia) hotels in Siena, Italy

Recommended: This is the best located hotel in Siena, it made the stay extra special. It is nicely appointed and clean and the staff were very friendly and helpful. It is right on the main shopping strip and near the campo, near a very good pastry shop/coffee bar and near all the major sights. We were comfortable in the room, and the bathroom had all the necessary appointments, including a hair dryer. Remember - this is an old building in an old city - it is not modern, not large, and not high tech. The room and bathroom were smaller than we expected. It is an expensive hotel, so we were a little disappointed, but the location made up for the cramped quarters. See all reviews for this hotel

Not recommended: This hotel B&B provides a clean room and little more. I thought the B&B office was difficult to find, the office was closed and contact information was lacking. Once I found her, the manager escorted me on foot through Siena to the room which was located on the fourth floor--no elevators. Be prepared to "rough" it a little with this B&B. Recommended: I stayed in La Locanda di San Martino for a night and was quite pleased with the service and accommodation. By Italian standards its not bad considering what I paid for some other hotels while travelling through Italy. The room is a very good size with a reasonably comfortable bed. The mini bar was under stocked and the shower gel, and shampoo is like you get from a cheap one star motel. The service was very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was very average, and your better off going to the square for an espresso and panini. The biggest plus is the location, great central position everything easily reached walking. Recommended: We enjoyed our stay at Chiusarelli. It was a great location and we could walk to all of the sights we wanted to see. There were tons of restaurants in the area as well (breakfast in the hotel was great!) The staff were usually friendly, but didn't seem to know a lot about the area. They couldn't help us with hours of operation for the sights to see or give too much help with our needs as tourists. Overall it was a great stay though! See all reviews for this hotel

Recommended: Our room was not the best - small with a small window. But very clean and the bed was super comfortable. However the garden was fabulous for a morning coffee or an afternoon cocktail. Overlooking the vineyards - it was very special. See all reviews for this hotel

Recommended: We stayed at Il Chiostro for two nights in Oct. 2009. What a wonderful place and the location was excellent! As others have mentioned, there is no elevator which can prove to be a challenge for some, however, we had no problems with it. The rooms was large, clean and very comfortable. The staff was very helpful and friendly. We would definitely stay here again. Unfortunately the weather wasn't great while we were there so we didn't get a chance to enjoy the courtyard much, however, we did sit under the arches and watch the rain fall in the courtyard one evening. Recommended: This is a basic, no frills hotel in a great location. We spent 8 days in Mar. 2008 for the price of one night at a luxury hotel. If your room is just a place to sleep and a trip to Italy would be unaffordable any other way this is the place for you.
