“Not Impressed”
I guess you get what you pay for. It was a cheap hotel. Room was not very clean. Maintenance needed to be done. The front window had a giant crack in it. Paint in the walls in the room was chipping off onto the floor. I do have to say that the staff was polite and pleasent though.
“Horrible Service”
I was warned before booking this hotel, but was forced to anyway since there were no other hotels available this weeekd (softball and weddings). Upon arrival, the staff was very unprofessional, wearing worn down t-shirts and rude attitude. I was charged an extra amount that was promised as well. The service was the worst I've ever encountered. After realizing our ironing board was missing, we called the front office to see if they had one we could use. The response was "Ummm, Im not sure. We're really busy right now, call back in15 minutes." Needless to say, I will never be staying here again.
“So bad we didn't even stay the night and not given a refund”
This hotel was run down, poor up keep and we were put in a room as far from everything as you can get including the parking lot. Our room was freezing because no one bothered to turn the heat on. I booked a king size bed and was put in a room with 2 double beds of which my husband and I had serious concerns of bed bugs, unfortnatly we had an event we were late for so I was not able to address my concerns and frustrations. We ended up staying at another hotel. I called the next day to see about a refund and was told I would be contacted by a manager, which never happened.
“Don't!”
We made this reservation months and months in advance. Upon arrival they took awhile switching our rooms around, figuring out which was clean and which wasnt, were not sure if they had one ready, fellow travelers in our group were sent over to the neighboring hotel (we were not aware of any affiliation) and their room was occupied, then were sent back to the America's Best. It was not at all organized and the lobby left much to be desired. To top it off - we went in around 10:45 to check out (check out time was 11am) and came into the lobby with a sign on the desk stating something like 'front desk will return shortly.' We waited approximately 15 min, rang the bell to alert there were people waiting until we finally put our keys on the desk and left to get on the road. You would assume one of the most important times to have your desk occupied would be at check out time. We tried to call 3 times throughout the day (a Sunday) to confirm that they received our keys and we were checked out fine. I was not able to get ahold of anybody at the hotel until late the following day. We were in town for a wedding and unfortunately Manhattan is a tough spot to get a hotel on game weekends. The only positive was that the hotel was conveniently located to all of our stops for the weekend.
“SUCKED”
Don't get a room at this hotel unless you really are desperate for a cheap room.
“America's Best is definately not America's Best”
I have already sent a letter to their corporate office. The hotel is horrible. I considered sleeping in my car at about 2:30am - it would have been quieter for sure. I realize that it was a college graduation weekend, and there weren't many options, but gosh I wish I would have taken the reviews more seriously before I booked in February. The place is an absolute mess. The front desk is closed with a small paper sign on the window saying to check in at the hotel next door. Really? How unprofessional. That should have been my first clue. There weren't any other rooms available in town - so this was a last resort. It was raining, so all night I heard the sound of water dripping as if the door was wide open (literally - I promise - I double checked to make sure the door was shut all the way). We could hear every conversation outside, and every person walking by, with every footstep. In short - you'd be better off sleeping in your car and saving your money, then showering at the local gym, than to stay at this hotel.
“HORRID”
America's Best Value Inn - Manhattan sits next to Regency Inn, which was where the only operating office was located. 1. First, they gave me a room in ABVI-M that was already occupied. 2. Next, they gave me a room in ABVI-M that was not ready (bed was stripped, room was in disarray). 3. Third, the 3rd room they gave me was in RI, but did not have hot water the next morning, so they sent me over to the other building (ABVI-M) to take a shower. While in that room, the hair dryer & wall holder came off in my hands. Ownership moved me to another room in RI for my 2nd night. 4. Property appeared to be a closed down property that was being renovated. Property was falling apart, concrete stairs were crumbling, renovation equipment and materials were obstructing walkways, continental breakfast area was strewn with extra dietary equipment and was in complete disarray. Menu consisted totally of bagels, pre-boxed cold cereal & milk. Juice machine was present, but only dispensed water, or inproperly mixed juice. Property staff seemed practically non-existent, and most looked like they just walked in off the street. The staff made errors with No. 1 and 2 above, & made an error not moving me to another room in RI with No. 3. However, when ownership/management was asked to comp the 1st of 2 nights, they refused and only offered a 15% discount, complaining about the money they'd lost in the last 6 months. This was totally unacceptable. Recommend everyone avoid this property at all costs.
“Awful”
The hotel didn't look anything like its picture on the website. It was under renovation. The rooms were very nasty. Had there had been any other rooms available that weekend in Manhattan, I would have cancelled my reservation.
“AVOID THIS HOTEL AT ALL COSTS!!!”
Absolutely not worth the $$$! This hotel is being remodeled, but they should just bulldoze it and start over. The workmanship is horrible: over-spray everywhere, smoke detector painted over, water damaged bathroom door painted over, holes in the sink cabinet, hardware mounted upside down, drywall and plaster dust everywhere. (If I could post pictures I would.) Desk clerk not competent enough to check me in (I found out the next morning when I was checking out). Avoid this place like the plague. This was the cheapest place I could find in town, but I would gladly pay a few more bucks knowing what I know now.
“Get what you pay for”
Value of the room for a King size bed is $50 or so less than any other place, but you get what you pay for!! The bed was good, but the mattress sheet cover was only a twin size covering only the upper portion of the body!!! The bathrooms are in HUGE need of remodeling. Again, price dictates luxury!! You want affordability w/o the fanciness, then this is your place. If you want luxury and a higher priced room, go somewhere else.
