I was very impressed when I stayed here for the first time a couple of months ago and on my second visit, once again, it more than lived up to my expectations. Located on 57th between 6 & 7 the hotel is slap bang in the middle of Midtown with easy access to shopping and the subway.
We all recognise that hotel rooms in Manhattan are on the small side, but this one is well designed, very comfortable and full of great features that make you feel a little more special than many of the boutique style hotels. The touch controls next to the bed made the functionality of the room easy to manage, the mini bar is well stocked with high end beverages and snacks, the espresso maker ensure's that you get an appropriate caffeine fix in the morning, along with many other little touches that suggests someone has put a lot of thought into this.
I found the staff very friendly and helpful, such as the doorman handing me a bottle of water as I returned from a run. The Attachè service was polite, quick and efficient and I used them on numerous occasions for a wide range of services.
The 24/7 room service worked very well and even at 3am the food was very good and still hot when it arrived.
I thought that having a restaurant and bar (The Wayfarer) slightly separated from the main hotel is also a sensible idea in my opinion as there is not the constant stream on non-residents wandering through the lobby. It kept the hustle and bustle of the Wayfarer away from the cool calmness of the hotel.

Great bang for your buck! The location is excellent and the hotel is beautifully appointed.
The rooms are very big and you even have your own mini-fridge and microwave. The gym is huge and the salon is excellent. There wasn't one thing that I didn't like!
I will definitely be back.

This is by far my best hotel experience in NYC and the location is superb. We went to celebrate my mom's birthday and they provided us with everything we asked for. They gave my mom a pleasant surprise with the birthday cake and flowers that I ordered, and delivery timing was perfect! Rooms are reasonably spacious (you know NYC hotels...), very clean and comfortable. Highly recommended.

Booked this hotel through Expedia and had the best experience. The hotel is beautiful very art deco and you feel like you are in The Great Gatsby. The room was huge, plush and comfortable. Did not want to leave the sumptuous bed, but its great location next to Central Park was key to visit this beautiful area, near the Museums and fantastic restaurants. On 5th Avenue so easy to walk to the shops. The staff were very helpful, always cheerful and happy to accommodate any request.

The hotel is really lovely. It is a great location and very close to lots of places to eat. Not far from anywhere really, Times square is a 10 minute walk.
We had a couple of cleanliness issues but nothing major (a hair in the bath and a dirty window)

The whole visit was a great success, the weather was great, the people were friendly, the theater was marvelous; and it all started with Nicola, the young woman who checked us in at the Mark. Nicola overheard my wife mention that she was hungry, and did´t like the idea of having to go out. She made several calls, and invited us to go into the wonderful restaurant of the hotel. Got us a table, and the experience was great. We undoubtedly would recommend staying at the Mark, and praise the food and service at its restaurant, they both rate a couple of stars. Nicola rates at least three.

We struggled to book a Hotel not knowing the area or having visited in the past. Sofitel was a great choice. Its close to times square but down a quieter street so noise was not a factor. Our 27th floor stay was a help as well. Staff was very accomodating and pleasant. We walked everywhere from this location. Shows, restaurants, the square etc. We likely walk more than the norm wherever we go.
Bed was super comfy. We had a very nice living room + king suite which might not be in everyones budget but worth the extra if you can do it. A small but important item for us is blackout curtains that really work. These really work. We did not take advantage of the restaurant on site or the fitness facilities so can't comment on those.
i guess the bottom line is that if i were going back i'd book here first. We really liked it.
Good luck to all of you researching. Hope this helped.
