The staff were very friendly and helpful. Amy at the reception desk was great. Turned a possibly annoying delay checking in into a very positive outcome. Handled the situation with professionalism and poise.
The location is fantastic. Just steps to all the best shops and restaurants and bars.

I stayed two nights at the Affinia Shelburne for business. I have never stayed in the Murray Hill area of NYC near Grand Central Station before (I usually stay high 50s on the West Side). This area was so much more convenient. With Grand Central nearby it couldn't have been easier to get to everywhere I needed to go in Manhattan (and I had to go to Queens for one meeting and that was easy too). The hotel was very comfortable, the staff was friendly and they even offered complimentary wine from 5-6pm in the lobby every evening. The lobby has a living room feel to it, unlike most hotel lobbies, so that ended up being very relaxing. It all felt so much more homey than the chain hotels where I usually stay. I will also note that the wifi was lightening fast. I will definitely stay there my next trip to NY.

Large, clean rooms with cooking facilities. We didn't need the kitchen but it was well stocked with utensils, dishes, etc. The concierge was extremely helpful in getting us reservations for dinner before the theater. The rooms were large and comfortable. The location was convenient to the Metro and walking distance to midtown, Central Park, and even Times Square. Plenty of eating options nearby.

Arrival from JFK using public transport - big savings on shuttle or cab fares - direct into Penn Station - across the road (45 mins door to door) makes this an excellent location. Close to 5th Avenue, Empire State, the Bus tour stops and Times Square (15 min stroll), The Highline (5 mins). This hotel has everything on its door step!
Reception staff - Mavel - was amazing - we visited for my daughters 18th and she received top dollar service, congratulations and a room upgrade! WOW! HUGE room with seperate office area, large sofa and relaxing chair with deep sunken bath - needed to realx after walking so far in this city - oved the decor. Felt incredibly welcomed and safe.
The concierge, Marina, made front row reservations for The Lion King on Broadway and a special dinner at Uncle Jacks Steakhouse. Unbeknown to us she informed them of my daughters birthday and my own a day earlier - so we received VIP treatement and a candle lit chocolate souffle on the house! Thanks again Marina - we were living the dream in NYC and will never forget that night for as long as we live x
Other reviews mention the noise levels and yes, double glazing is a MUST to upgrade this 4 star to a 5star as located next the sounds of a church peeling at 0700hr and a fire station was noisy - HOWEVER you do not come to NYC to lie in your hotel room sleeping - so the early morning call got us set up for the day ahead.
we wpould highly recommend - Thank you.
