Renovation in the worksPosted Aug 1, 2015
Pros: Spacious rooms, great staff, location, lobby
Cons: Rooms need to be updated
Location: Well placed near to many malls in Makati, good western dining options close to the hotel like Outback Steakhouse, Buffalo Wild Wings, etc)
Dusit Thani is currently going through a renovation period. If the rooms of the future follow in line with the grand reception/lobby area following the facelift of this hotel, it will be well on its way to a grand place to nestle down in the heart of Makati. The rooms while very spacious and comfortable are indeed rather tired in current state. The TV in the room was rather dated and small, some of the room furniture felt a bit out of place, slight wet-mildew odor on the assigned floor though not in the room...perhaps are area that was subject to a water issue, bed was slightly firm. Hotel has great potential, the staff are top notch and a good location in Makati. I am not sure if the club level is perhaps already renovated. No issues with any construction noise during the stay. The hotel has the keys to being a great contender but as of July, 2015, was still a work in progress.

Unbelievable!Posted Jun 16, 2015
Pros: Great location! Across the street from the mall.
Cons: Revamp the business center.
Location: Glorietta, Greenbelt and SM are all nearby. The light rail is also right across the street and the Hotel is right off EDSA if you are driving.
I needed to print boarding passes and here is the experience. First, the business center is sponsored by Etihad, which I think is a great idea if it leads to a better experience. But unfortunately, that is not the case. First is the cost - to use an old, slow computer in the business center was $9 minimum. Then printing the boarding pass was $6. Apparently, part of the Etihad sponsorship is to make the business center feel like a desert! It was 85 degrees! And when I asked if they could turn on the air conditioning, they said it was on and working. When I asked for a bottle of water, I was told that was only for Etihad customers. Overall, I had a terrible experience. Additionally, the business center was only open from 9 am to 6 pm, so if you arrive late and fly out early, which is often the case, you can't even use it. Regarding the rest of my stay, the hotel is very dated. I am sure at one point, it was a very upscale hotel, but now it just feels tired.

Used to be my favorite Makati HotelPosted Jun 2, 2015
Pros: Close to the airport.
Cons: Continue the ongoing renovation.
Location: Within easy walking distance to malls, restaurants and a grocery store. Easy access to taxis.
I have stayed at the Dusit many times over the past several years and I returned for a 4-night stay because of the outstanding location and the friendly staff. I arrived at around 2:30pm and was told the room I booked with a king size bed was not available and I would be given a room with two single beds. This has happened to me before (at this hotel) and as I did in the past, I told the receptionist that I really wanted the king size bed. After a couple of minutes, I was given room 1111 and was told they would stock the mini bar later. The room had a worn-out bathroom and a poor temperature control system for the aircon, as well as the dirty carpet that I have come to expect. They never stocked the mini bar which was a good thing because I was able to store items that I purchased from the nearby grocery store in the refrigerator. The place is under renovation so it can move on from the Dusit Hotel Nikko era (its previous name) which is a good thing. However, due to the proximity of my room to the construction, the noise was really annoying during the day. Also, due to the construction, access the 11th floor was limited to only two of the five elevators. Due to the declining condition of the rooms, I'm on the fence whether or not I'd recommend this hotel to others. I suppose if I got a Three Star price I would stay again. Tip: If you do book, I recommend using the laundry located behind the SM Mall, as it is significantly cheaper than what the Dusit charges
