“First Timer”

After reading the reviews I was concerned about staying at this hotel however after arriving those thoughts were put away. This is a small hotel but warm and cozy, the staff is excellent and very friendly. The Buffet breakfast is good although not to crazy about the prices and food for dinner inside the hotel. There are several nice places to eat that are a close walking distance. For the price I think one cannot beat the stay at this hotel. The U S Embassy is a 15 min walk and Razal park is within walking distance. I would enjoy staying here again if I have the opportunity.

“I would not mind going back”

Friendly staff, centrally located, reasonable price, Very good breakfast, large room --- It was very good for the money.

Area recommendations
I was not impressed with Manila. The city is too crowded, it is just like any other big city, some areas are nice and some are not nice at all. I took a couple of tours. I took a day tour to Taal Lake, It is a must do. The other was a trip to Hidden Valley, also very nice. I wish I had more time to do some Island hopping. Maybe next time.

“Good hotel, not so much within walking distance”

I've had a fine stay in G Hotel. The service, as I've come to find with nearly every hotel in the Philippines, is absolutely top-notch. Whether it's the people at the front desk, the restaurant staff, or the cleaning crews for the rooms everyone has been very helpful and professional. The only drawback is that G Hotel isn't really within easy walking distance of many restaurant or shopping options. That said, it's a very short cab ride to Mall of Asia, Makati, Rizal Park, Cultural Center of the Philippines, the US Embassy and other attractions. My room, a suite, is affordable, spacious, comfortable and the view of Manila Bay is spectacular.

“decent, not fancy”

simple, low key spot on the waterfront. reasonably well remodeled, but definitely not fancy. I was disappointed that the restaurant was not open when I arrived. Despite the front clerk's concern, I walked around the local area and found a great sushi place up the road a bit (toward the US embassy). Room was clean and comfortable, although I haven't seen a tube-style TV in quite awhile. I'll likely go back, is so much simpler and low-key than the big casino hotels.

“An OK hotel but not for the price”

Pro: 1) Decent buffet breakfast. 2) Courteous Staff 3) Designer look to lobby. 4) Prompt assistance Con: 1) Nicer hotels in the US for the same price (who say's it's cheaper to visit the Philippines???) 2) Smaller room with poor view. 3) Bathroom fixtures wobbly/ tub chipped. 4) Small TV. 5) Corridors steamy and very hot (NO AC) while the restaurant is icy cold - makes it hard to dress for this hotel.

Manila as a whole seemed fairly ugly.

“Basic nice hotel for Manila”

Pros: friendly staff, clean rooms, YUMMY food, close to airport and Mall of Asia, Cons: hard beds, older area/building.

Area recommendations
I would recommend the Pasay area of Manila as it is close to the Airport and Mall of Asia. This area is common for tourists to stay, and has a safe 'feel' to it. It is very bustling all hours of the night.
Getting around
Ok so if you are planning on stuff like Honda Bay Island hopping or the Underground river, (both on Palawan) then you must book a tour in advance. These can be booked from Manila and include airfare to Palawan with your group. If you try and book one once you are there, you may not be able to as they often fill up fast, and you may call and call and no one answers. I've read of some brave people doing their own thing, but for me it just isn't worth the headache. Also, Manila takes the American Dollar, but once outside of Manila you must have Philippine Pesos. The money changers are a little shady and they charge 14% to change the money. The cabs are a decent way to go but beware of cabbies who will try and rip you off. They won't turn on the meter and they will tell you a much higher amount for your trip. The tricycles are fun, but smelly, and the jeepneys are sometimes very hot and crowded and not always safe for women traveling alone. Some hotels offer drivers, but they are fairly expensive. Have fun!

“Good location”

As with most hotels in Manila, the neighborhood isn't stellar at the G Hotel, but it was fine for me. It's close to the airport, close to Mall of Asia, near the US Embassy, Rizal Park, etc. Most of all it was great to have complimentary internet and breakfast.
