Hotel under construction

When we booked we were not informed the hotel was under construction and the pool and whirlpool weren't open. Very disappointed

PROS: Not an awful lot of options in this area. Quiet, clean, comfortable room. Very nice, helpful employees. Forgot my toothbrush, called the front desk and they brought one right to my door. Convenient restaurant/bar in the hotel. CONS: The building is very dated. There's currently some construction, which was very loud. A lot of the building smelled like sewer gas for some reason, but not the rooms.

Hotel was great. Restaurant not so much.

The hotel employees were VERY friendly and made you feel welcome. The room was comfortable, but we wish there were a fridge in the room. And although there was renovations going on, it didn't bother us at all. The restaurant service was slow. The lady for dinner was very friendly, but the lady in the morning was not all there or something. We were also charged for the kids breakfasts which i thought was free if staying at the hotel. The food wasn't the best either for breakfast and they didn't have bananas for my daughters meal but we were charged for it anyway. The location was great. Just a few minutes from everywhere we needed to go.

Best hotel in New Ulm

Beds were comfortable, room and bathroom were clean. Pool area was not available during our stay.

Great 3 night stay!

The hotel service was great all around. We stayed 3 nights with prepaid breakfast and one morning we had to get up earlier then the breakfast hours and they let us use the breakfast coupon for dinner at the restaurant. Very nice people working there. Would definitely go there again.

The Usual...

We always stay here when we visit New Ulm. The service from the front desk, housekeeping, and the restaurant (now called Torge's) was great as usual. It will be really sad when it becomes a Best Western; it has been Holiday Inn as long as I can remember. Will stay here in the future.

Back to the 80's

Pros: The staff was friendly and helpful.
Cons: Remodeling and updating and attention to detail is a must
Location: I was visiting family and the location was helpful to me. I did not go to New Ulm or visit any businesses or sites.
The Holiday Inn hasn't been updated, I'm sure, for thirty years. It probably was a great place then. They have a nice pool and large banquet type area. We stayed in the back of the hotel above the banquet area. I don't think they had cleaned the bathrooms there and the smell wafted up to our room. Not enough to be a problem or need to complain, but strange none the less. When asked at checkout about my stay, I discussed the dated, worn out facility and the bad smell. The clerk acknowledged this and said that there are plans to update the facility. Anyway, would I stay there again? No. Still, it would be adequate in a pinch.

Great pool area but some issues

The hotel seemed pretty clean overall. The pool area was nice, having ping pong and foosball available for free for the kids to play. The rooms were nice but the downfall was only double beds available no queens in the double rooms. There was vacuuming that started before 8am and there were 4 dogs staying there too that were barking quite a bit especially in the morning! Very frustrating when you are trying to sleep. Don't want to stay if you are allergic to pets since they let them stay there I guess. Overall it was fine!

Could use some renovating

The place was ok - the fitness room was small and the dumbbells only went up to 40 lbs. The hotel was a unique design but seemed really dated and kind of smelled old. I was dissapointed there was no refrigerator or microwave in the room. I did not try the hotel resturaunt as there was nothing healthy on the menu only greasy bar food. I wouldnt stay there again.
