I would recommend this place to people who are used to European hotels or are open-minded to have a different experience. If you want a tried and true chain hotel and are used to a certain level of comfort that comes with a lot of space, I don't recommend this place.
I read the reviews about the host being mean to those who only spoke English, so I brushed up on my French as much as possible (I really only cared about the price point & cleanliness, that's why I booked this place). When I got there, I greeted him in French and did my best to navigate the conversation with intermittent French and plenty of "oui's" The exchange was pleasant enough and I enjoyed my stay in the triple room with two other people. My aunt and cousin had a smaller room and they said it felt like a dungeon but when I went in there it wasn't so bad, so they just might have preconceived notions about what a normal room size is outside of America. The only thing that was a little odd about it was during cleaning time they would throw all the dirty towels on the stairs and then pick them up later, so when my sister and I went for a mid-day run we walked down the stairs and had to navigate around piles of towels and sheets. All in all, it was fine. I didn't get the breakfast since it was 7 Euros but my aunt did and she said it wasn't worth the money since it was a few carby pastries, juice, and a cup of coffee.

The hotel is simple but has all the essentials.. The beds are confortable enough, there's a nice TV and wi-fi. It is not a boutique hotel but has all you need for a nice stay. The staff is very helpful and sweet. But the greatest asset is the location. Really central, close to the metro station, walking distance to most places and right by the charming Marais.
I also chose to have breakfast that was also quite good.

Finding budget hotels in Paris can be very frustrating, but this hotel was in a perfect location, 5 mins walk from l'hotel de ville, and was functional, comfortable and clean. Check in was easy and the staff were friendly. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom modern with a decent shower. I didn't have the breakfast as there are so many places in the area. I'd definitely stay here again next time I'm in Paris.

"Small and basic hotel in great, convenient locatio"
To be fair, we were only at Hôtel Ducs D'Anjou for one night, but it was perfect. It is located steps from the Chatelet Les Halles metro stop, which got us from the Paris Orly airport on the B line with ease on Friday, and on the same metro line to CDG Airport with ease on Sunday. There are a countless number of bars, restaurants and shops with a lot of character in Le Marais which begin just downstairs and you can wonder from there, or walk/metro to all of the sights Paris has o offer. The room and bathroom were small, but perfect for our needs. Very clean. Helpful staff. Would stay again and recommend to others!

Loved the location of the hotel - sobastopol metro station is literally fifty steps from the front door which links easily with all major stations. It is also next to a main street that features many restaurants, bars and great shopping. Follow the street directly down to the river and all the sights - louvre, royal palace, notre-dame. The hotel is in an old building across from a quiet park - ask for a room with a balcony at the front for a great view of old buildings - great for relaxing with a Bordeaux after a day around the city. The downfall of the hotel being old is that the walls are paper thin (at least on the 7th floor they were) - could hear everything next door. Ask for a quiet room (maybe it would work). Staff were great, comfortable and clean rooms, Internet worked, very tiny elevator if it's a concern, did not get breakfast so can't comment on that.

Marais - Pompidou - Notre Dame de Paris, Paris Hotel Guide
A beguiling mix of art and architecture, the revitalised Beaubourg and Marais districts are home to Paris’ Jewish community and a thriving gay scene. Attractions include the Pompidou Centre, Place des Vosges (Paris’ oldest square), the Picasso museum, Notre-Dame cathedral and bijou Ile-St-Louis. Stalls selling birds, flowers and books line the banks of the Seine. Village St-Paul is good for antique-hunting. The area is best explored on foot.
